1. Just to make it clear - we will not give you a topic for your EE, but we will help you refine and expand on your original ideas for a topic. You are marked on your choice of topic so we can't help you with that.
2. Before doing anything, read the Extended Essay for Dummies thread. At the very least, we recommend you take a look at the 5 Cardinal Rules of the EE!
3. Before asking anything about format or requirements for the extended essay, we suggest you read the IB Extended Essay Guide first (which you can download from here).
4. Make your thread titles descriptive. At the minimum, mention the subject area and if you have one, the topic! For instance "History EE on Nazi Propaganda" is better than "EE help please". The people who know about history and nazi propaganda will click on the first thread and probably miss the second one. Help us to help you - give it an accurate title!

Its hilarious to think of a site that is considering helping future students when their time is so limited especially on an IB basis. The word limit for the EE is 4000 words. If you go over this limit you lose marks. There is no minimum but for most subjects, you should expect to go above 3500 words. For experiment based subjects like sciences or math you can go as low as 2500 if there is sufficient formulae working (math) or data (sciences) or other things not included in the word count but suffices to show that you've done work on the essay. The word limit for the Abstract is separate and is 300 words. The following are not included in the word count: footnotes, appendices, abstract. Hey, I do EE in biology, my research question is: How reliable is HbA1c as a long-term glycemic control marker in individuals with diabetes? and research topic is: Haemoglobin A1c Levels as a Biomarker for Long-Term Blood Sugar Control in Diabetes. I actually wanted to change my topic&question, because I can't conduct a premary research and as i know these essays usually don't get A or B. Hiii, I am going to start working on my ee starting this semester (probably in a couple of weeks) and I know I can't use a book we've studied or are going to study/analyze in class, but I was wondering if I can use a book that is a retelling, readaptation by a different author, or inspired from a classic novel. I have a few books that I want to read/do my extended essay on, but I haven't made my mind up yet because of this question. Appreciate the help!

Hello everyone, I am almost done with my EE, but the problem is that my EE is purely theoretical, hence I don't know what kind of errors to put in my evaluation. I just finished Q1 in the first IB year and I am stuck at deciding my RQ for the EE. Is this a good one or is there anything to improve or add: "To what extent has Nike's endorsement of athletes and celebrities contributed to its global brand recognition and market shares. I want to write my extended essay about coffee. My first idea was to research how the 2021 frost in Brazil affected the local coffee roasteries but to do that I needed financial reports that they didn't want to give I understand, because of confidentiality, but I could find these financial reports in a government database but to access them it costs a lot of money, so maybe anyone has some advice or a different idea of what I could research about coffee in Latvia? hey all, I'm halfway through my EE draft but have hit a few mental roadblocks. My question is 'How decisive was the Kokoda Track Campaign between July and November 1942 in halting the Japanese advancement in the Pacific War in World War II?' I have completed heavy research but am struggling to answer the question, as in, I don't know how to address the 'how decisive' aspect. I've spoken to my supervisor, but it's not helping me. Hi. I'm working on my extended essay for English B Category 3 Literature, and I'm struggling to choose a book to analyze. Initially, I decided to write about 'Never Let Me Go' by Kazuo Ishiguro. However, since it's a dystopian novel, I'm unsure if it's a good choice. Many people suggest that analyzing a dystopian novel might not be ideal due to their overdone and classic nature. Nevertheless, 'Never Let Me Go' is not as popular as other dystopian novels like '1984' or 'Brave New World.' I'm still unsure. Hey! I'm writing my ee in economics and my topic is on sustainable consumption and prodcution of textiles in Sweden. I want to talk about both production and consumption becauseI have points to talk about in both parts.. Im doing my extended essay in English cat 1 and my teacher has informed me that the only work cited that matters is my novel, and I can use websites to help with my research. I plan on putting those websites in my "works cited" at the end but do I also have to include them in my in text citations even if I dont use them in my essay??

Is it worth remarking an EE 3 points off an A? I've researched a bit and heard both sides, with some people saying that the marking really depends on the moderator vs there not much chance of the actual grade moving. I need an extra point to meet my uni offer and EE is the closest mark to a higher grade across everything but I am just not sure if it is worth it. Does anyone know if there has been much success with EE remarks in general?
