Hello, As staff at this site, we realise how much of a distraction the internet in general, and IBSurvival in particular, can be when it comes to exam time. If you find that IBSurvival is distracting you from your studies too much, or that you spend too much time procrastinating on here, you can request for a ban to help you concentrate on studying for exams. We will ban anyone who voluntarily asks to be banned to concentrate on their studies. Simply PM an admin or a supervisor stating the amount of time you want to be banned (e.g. 1 week, 2 weeks, until date X) and leave your email address. We will email you with our email so that you can contact us if you want to be un…

Hi everyone! That dreaded month is here and it’s time for your final IB exams! We’d like to just remind you of some rules regarding exam discussions. 1. Though you’re perfectly free to discuss exam papers, keep in mind the strict 24-hours rule. This means you cannot discuss any part of an exam paper with anyone outside of your school community before 24 hours had passed since the end time of the exam. In other words, before the 24 hours had passed, you cannot in anyway discuss the exam, even if it’s just to say you found it hard or easy. 2. Please keep ALL your discussion of exam papers in the Exam Discussion forum. Each exam paper should have its own separate thread i…

Are there any restrictions on the number of answer sheets handed in? I used 5 sheets for my math exam today, but my teacher removed the last one saying that max 4 are allowed (I don't get why they gave me the 5th in the first place). I don't know what is going on.

In order to help control the 24 hour limit imposed on exams, topics must be approved before they are posted. They won't be approved for public view until the 24 hour wait is up, and they must then be approved manually by a moderator - this may or may not be exactly on the dot of the 24 hour limit, but hopefully as close as possible. We know how much you all want to discuss the exams with each other! Please don't post things over and over again because they haven't shown up, because actually they will show up eventually - you just have to be patient I'm afraid! I would also like to remind people not to share information about/discuss the content of their exams via PMs e…

This is the Discussion Timetable NOT the exam schedule. Exam schedule can be found here. All the discussion about the exams has to be in the EXAM DISCUSSION forum, not in the subject forums. It is EXTREMELY important that you do not post those topics in any other forum as it will not be possible for us to properly moderate them. Thank you. Three IBSurvival guidelines: 1. The topics you start are invisible until a staff member approves it. Therefore, do not start another topic when you can't see yours. No discussions via PMs before the 24-hour wait is up. Yes, we can check PMs. For more information: Is your post not showing up…

Paper 1 - Comparatively easy - the tonnes question on the first page at first threw me off, but i just pretended it was grams and went with that =D - a lot of people got caught by the "increase in volume" when there's a 30C increase in temperature or something (the answer is 1.1) Paper 2 - Stoichiometry in Section A, my % purity looked right at the end - Followed by buffer solutions I believe, my definition was iffy and i said YES for both of the questions - Followed by...??? - Section B: I picked the equilibrium one and ended up kept repeating myself. Easy selection. - Got bored at the end and drew a Brownian motion graph just for the heck of it Paper 3 - Option A: cramm…

Hello! I figured I'd start this topic, since no one really talks about IB Chinese A online fsr. I took IBSL CHinese A Language & Literature, but HL people can also contribute their thoughts on the exam here. So, what did you guys think? I thought that both Paper 1 and Paper 2 were okay...though I kind of ran out of time for P2 My analysis was also not as thorough as it could have been since I over-analyzed one work.

From what it's looking like at the moment, I'll be doing 4 papers on May 10th, 2012. The papers are Physics (P1+P2) , Language A1 (Arabic P1 in my case) and Environmental Studies (P1). I'm sure that the cruelty of this world IB has left many others in the same situation as mine throughout the years and I'm wondering as to how such scenarios have played out in the end and if there's a way to deal with such monumental stress without a total nervous breakdown. Have any of you survivors been through this situation? What did the school's management do to help you (if anything)? What was it like?

I am not sure where this discussion topic would be as it really doesnt talk about an exam or its answers in particular. To start off, I guess this is a place where anyone who made a mindless error can come to and let it out and try to regroup. I came out of my BIO HL Paper 2 today feeling great. I sort of thought it was a bit short as well. A friend comes up to me and asks ''Which question(S) did you do for part 2?.'' I reply with ''QUESTION(S)?'' If you havent caught on yet...I have just realized that I wrote only ONE of the TWO essay questions we were suppose to do. This is the worst feeling in the world....when you know you studied hard and a little mistake costs you…

I just finished my French SL Paper 2 today. I did my composition on how I feel about seeing my friend cheat At the end I concluded that I should pick the most convenient way and just cheat as well. (I gave solid reasoning) But my friends are telling me that they are going to fail me because it's not 'good' enough Am I dead?

I did options E (Neurobiology) and H (Further Human Physiology). I was really disappointed with the questions this year: in option E, there was nothing on the ear or neurons! in option H, there was nothing on coronary heart disease or liver disease! Don't these things usually come up year after year, in some form or another? And also that 6-marker question in option H on the Bohr shift - whaaaat? I was originally planning to burn all my Bio notes...now I'm thinking I might keep them in case I do re-takes...sigh.

OMG Bio! What'd you think of it? I'm TZ1. I thought Paper 1 was pretty nice! I looked at the question w/ + and - as the answers, and I was like what the heck? But I got - and - as my answer. And I spent way too long on the pedigree one. The only one that could have made sense was the X linked, recessive, right? I wanted to make sure that it was right... What you get on the backwards recombinant one? I finally put A as my answer. Can't recall exactly what it was, but I remember it took me a while to get the answer. And I hadn't studied long-day short-day enough. I read about it, but when it got to the P red and P far red, I zoned out because I didn't understand... eek.…

It's slightly late for this thread because the exam was more than a week ago, but I just noticed there's actually no threads on the topic. So how did everyone go? I found paper 1 slightly more obscure than normal, but section B in paper 2 was really good. I didn't like the data response though. (They are always tough because you never know what they have exactly on the mark scheme)

OK I'll start this topic now it's been 24 hours (well way more for me). How did everyone find the papers? I thought Paper 1 was of a similar standard to previous years I guess, a few annoying questions in there but nothing too crazy. Paper 2 questions were also pretty good, as the Section B questions were quite varied. I'll wait until other people post until I realise where I've messed up..

Hey Guys! November 2016 exam student here. I was wondering what you all thought about the Bio HL Papers? What trends and differences did you see that were different when compared to the old syllabus? Did you find it difficult?

Hey! How was the paper? I found P1 very easy... P2 was tough! Section A data based question was confusing and section B also there wasn't a single diagram question but it was ok...! How was it for everyone?

How did you do? I think it was great!! P1 was easy and P2 had a great section A! I said that the stem cells were in interphase and that the other two processes were DNA replication and protein synthesis... I choose 5 and 7 to answer from Section B... I had sort of a difficulty in answering the question "which processes lead to genetic variation of the sperm of an adult male"... Should I describe the process of spermatogenesis??? Competitive and non competitive, differences between oogenesis and spermatogenesis and IVF were really easy! I am predicted a 5 but I think that was a 6!

Hey Guys, Hope you liked the paper 1 and 2. Pretty straightforward then last year and now drawings (which was amazing for a person like me who fails at art. :/). Anyways, not sure if ANYONE will actually remember but for that motor neuron question in paper 1, what was the right answer? For fellow frenchies, good luck studying and for those who are done, congrats.
