Well, I came up with a thought that it'd be nice to know a bit more about our users here, so I came up with this topic. What you're supposed to do is pretty simple - copy&paste the questions below and then answer next to them. Feel free to skip any questions you don't want to answer. 1. What is your real name? 2. Where are you from? 3. How did you find out about IB Survival? 4. What made you register on IB Survival? 5. When did you (approximately) register here? 6. What is your favourite IB subject? 7. When are you graduating? 8. What are your plans for university? 9. What are your free-time hobbies? 10. If you could change one thing on IB Survival, what would it be?

Good morning (or good evening) ladies and gentlemen I decided to start a topic which I haven't seen on this forum before, but which can definitely make someone smile. IB and other education levels are hard - we as the youth of this world have so much pressure upon us that we break sometimes. Some of us fall hard but stand back up, where as some have troubles after trying to get back up a few times. There are also so many different reasons for people to be upset, and it's really a shame that people have to feel that way. Since the rate of anxiety, depression, and suicide has been rising in the recent years amongst teenagers, I thought that some small acts may help us all.…

I wanted to ask you a question from a long time ago, but forgot about it. WHAT DOES YOUR NAME REPRESENT/MEAN? (Meaning, in case it's not your real name/first name, why did you choose it?). I guess I'll start. It was a really random decision when I had to register to TSR, but I really love the name. BIO (as in biology, my favorite subject; and biological, as in completely pure and innocent) and AQUA (as in water, the power of water; and a word that I really love), so it's kind of the best of both worlds . Merge both words together, and it adds up to "Biological Water; a completely pure water which everyone needs to survive..." P.S If you google search my name, you get …

Hey there, A friend of mine @notyouobviously takes English A: lang & lit and currently works on his Written Task 1. He was wondering if anyone could help him with his Written Task? He basically does something with speech and looks for an idea (because of I don't take this course, I am not very familiar with these things). Could you please give him some ideas about the speech for his Written Task? Any help/suggestion will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Hello there I am a IB Year 1 Student from Germany... I searched with google for a few topics for my written tasks in English ( i am not really creative with choosing a topic to write about) and found this forum. After a bit "reading through" I was excited about the community. THe members seemed very kind and it's all not so irregularly messed up like in other kinds od Forums (<-- is that the right plural?!)... So well here I am, searching for a bit help... I think I'll put my subjects and my Extended Essay Theme as well as my ToK Theme (which i have not yet chosen) into my signature. Because I really need help? Well actually I thought: Hey IB, not that hard, like th…

As the title of this thread says... If you could choose any profession in the world, what would you be? Please state the profession and give a reason. Please try to explain your reason. I'm doing this for an essay and I need help. (Definitely not IB-related.) Thank you!

Hello, So I have finished my Extended Essay on Chemistry ages ago, and was about to upload it to the IB website. However, yes I know it is my fault and my supervisor's, I did not know that I had to do in-text referencing for Harvard Style. What I did is only put a small number on the left top at the end of the sentence (like this 4). So as soon as possible, I now have to fix all the referencing. The problem is that my EE is already near the word limit. It is 3980 words, an I am very sure that if I do the in-text citations, it will go over the word limit a lot!! So, are in-text citations included in the word count? Plz say no.....

This is my first time writing a post on these forums, and i am reaching out because I need desperate help. In my school, the class now has deadlines to when you're suppose to submit your criterions of the history IA and the EE for grading. (which makes perfect sense and establishes a system of accountability and forces you to not lag behind.) SADLY, I am a huge procrastinator and barely made it to the criterion A deadline and bullcrapped all of it. !!!CRITERION B IS DUE FOR GRADING TOMORROW!! :( The area i would particularly enjoy writing about and researching is the nature of the feminist movements in the united states, particularly the second wave and perhaps…

[Group5][Tips]Which books to study for IB Maths HL? There are a lot of great books out there to study for IB Math. There are mainly 4 major publications that I recommend everyone for IB math preparation regardless of Higher Level or Standard Level. 4 major publications are 1) Haese Publication 2) Oxford University Press 3) Cambridge University Press 4) Pearson Among these four, Haese is the most favored publication by IB schools; despite its lack of touch on IB exam type questions, its online support and user friendly textbook attracted many teachers to prefer this book over the others. I personally think it has the charm …

Hi everyone I'm new here and in the IB programme itself, never heard about it before starting it. I have learned a lot about the IB DP from various sources (this website being one of them), but there's still one thing I don't understand - The IB DP subject syllabus. I don't know where to find it? How does it work, is there one fixed syllabus or does it change? How do I know which one is the most recent one? I would really appreciate anyone's help on this matter, since it's the only thing I wasn't able to fully understand... Thank you in advance! If it does any help: I'm a year 1 student and my subjects are: English lit. A (SL) Spanish as a…

So, in grade 10, we were assigned the novel by George Orwell, 1984. If you haven't read it, you should, its very well written amazing. I'm not going to sum up the book because I don't want to spoil, but for those who ahve read it, do you think that Orwell's assumptions or theories of this world is accurate and valid? In my opinion, I feel that his theories are all true. It all makes sense. Again, I don't want to spoil, I hate spoiling. You can if you want, whatever. Just want to know if I'm the only one.

So, many people know that some... thing (an asteroid perhaps) will finally be in between us and the sun on December XX, 2012, after a lengthy (3 million year) orbit. It's believed that it is so large, that it will completely block out the sun for several weeks, and freeze us over. What's your take on this? I personally think it's a load of tosh... After all, people thought that the world would end on January 1, 2000... And besides, by 2012, The world will probably find a way to destroy, or shift the asteroid before it's able to block out the sun. Either that, or it could be smaller than we think it is... I also realize Mr. 692287002 has a lot to say... Don't you Tyler?

Hi Guys! I missed my IB DP by one point on my History of the Americas HL exam. I got a 3 on the exam, and I was one point from getting a four, which ultimately determined the diploma's ill-fated status. My history teacher, an official IB grader, gave me a 6 for my predicted grade, as I consecutively scored high on practice papers. My IB Program is quite small and our coordinator did not tell us about a remark. Should I get a remark? If so, how much does a remark cost? I'm new to IB survival, so I'm grateful for your feedback. Thanks guys!

So I'm currently in 11th grade rn. Its only been the 2nd term for DP and I'm doing so bad in all my subjects. HLs Psych (we haven't really done anything) English A : 11/20 for my first written task History : 5/15 for this essay practice test SLs Math Studies : 18/56 (Am I that stupid... math has always been my weakest subject despite studies being really easy.) French Abinitio (we haven't really done anything) Biology : 3/9 for the test, 13/24 for my first practice IA What is wrong with me? I did so much better in the MYP and all of a sudden I'm failing everything in the DP. I'm afraid I'm not gonna do well within the next tw…

I am currently in grade 10 and choosing my IB subjects. So far I've chosen - Economics HL - English A lang & Lit HL - German B HL - Math SL - Biology SL - French B/History/Psychology I am interested in doing a business/economics orientated in college and will most likely be applying to a college in the Netherlands or in the UK. I find all 3 subjects very interesting but think that if i would choose history or psychology I would be able to score higher than when choosing French. However it is known to be helpful to know many languages when doing something business orientated. What do you recommend?

We are creating an ethnograhic piece in my IB theatre class, and we are asking questions on social media platforms pertaining to our topic, so if you could give you honest answers that would be greatly appreciated 1) What do you think when you hear "I'll tell you when you're older"? 2) How do you feel the specific way you have been raised (religion, shared knowledge, etc) will affect your experiences as an adult? 3) Is there anything your parents told you that you wish you DID NOT know? If so, what? 4) Is there anything that you wish your parents DID tell you? If so, what? **You don't have to respond to all of the questions, just one or two would …

Hi guys/girls, So I am writing because I chose: - Maths HL - Physics HL - Economics HL - Chemistry HL - Spanish B SL - English Lang. & Lit. SL Although I believe I could work through this as I have quite good grades (not trying to be cocky), I think this will be too tiring for me... I was thinking of changing Chemistry for something much easier. Hello! I'll be starting the IB in August, which is very exciting, but there is one thing that has been on my mind lately: my subject choices. Our choices had to be made a few months ago. During that time of choosing I decided to go with 4 HLs. At first my intention was to take the three subjects which were English A Lang. and Lit. Biology Chemistry But, because history has always interested me, I decided to add it my list of HL subjects. A reason for my choice was that I had this idea that getting a good grade in HL History is easier due to the fact that Paper 3 in the final exam consists of essays (and has quite a big impact on your exam grade, a…

Hey there! I was wondering about the course load of taking 4 higher levels as opposed to three. I want to double major in classics and creative writing with a minor in graphic design in uni, so I am planning (hoping) to get high enough scores that I can use them towards credits. My schedule would look like this: English HL, History HL, Biology HL, Drama HL Math SL, French SL. Does this seem like a feasible task? Thanks in advance!

Hi, I'm a 10th grader and next year be going into the IB world... (dead) But anyways I was just wondering if colleges at all prefer 4 HLs and 2 SLs taken over 3 HLs and 3 SLs? I wanna major in entrepreneurship and the classes I'm thinking about taking are: HL math HL physics HL english (required for us because it's the only class offered of its group in my school) HL comp sci SL spanish --> SL economics in 12th grade APUSH --> not really sure what SL class I should take to replace this in 12th grade (maybe a science) Orchestra (11th and 12th grade) I feel like this is a solid schedule for what I want to be and I do really like the HL subjects I chose, but do…

Hey all, I've been having a lot of trouble writing the 45 minute essays that are assigned in HL History (year 1). Does anyone have any tips or strategies, or possibly well written exemplars, that I could use to improve my style of writing? I think I end up giving too much narrative and not giving as strong of an argument as I should be, but any help is appreciated. Thanks!
