Well, I came up with a thought that it'd be nice to know a bit more about our users here, so I came up with this topic. What you're supposed to do is pretty simple - copy&paste the questions below and then answer next to them. Feel free to skip any questions you don't want to answer. 1. What is your real name? 2. Where are you from? 3. How did you find out about IB Survival? 4. What made you register on IB Survival? 5. When did you (approximately) register here? 6. What is your favourite IB subject? 7. When are you graduating? 8. What are your plans for university? 9. What are your free-time hobbies? 10. If you could change one thing on IB Survival, what would it be?

I wanted to ask you a question from a long time ago, but forgot about it. WHAT DOES YOUR NAME REPRESENT/MEAN? (Meaning, in case it's not your real name/first name, why did you choose it?). I guess I'll start. It was a really random decision when I had to register to TSR, but I really love the name. BIO (as in biology, my favorite subject; and biological, as in completely pure and innocent) and AQUA (as in water, the power of water; and a word that I really love), so it's kind of the best of both worlds . Merge both words together, and it adds up to "Biological Water; a completely pure water which everyone needs to survive..." P.S If you google search my name, you get …

Good morning (or good evening) ladies and gentlemen I decided to start a topic which I haven't seen on this forum before, but which can definitely make someone smile. IB and other education levels are hard - we as the youth of this world have so much pressure upon us that we break sometimes. Some of us fall hard but stand back up, where as some have troubles after trying to get back up a few times. There are also so many different reasons for people to be upset, and it's really a shame that people have to feel that way. Since the rate of anxiety, depression, and suicide has been rising in the recent years amongst teenagers, I thought that some small acts may help us all.…

Currently attempting to do my maths IA but failing miserably as I feel that my topic was too difficult and there isn't much I can prove using it... Cannot change my topic over summer and it is due over summer too. Just wondering what are the grade boundaries for the maths IA? I've pretty much lost all hope and I really hope I get a 5 on this. Also, what are the chances of still getting a 6 overall in maths SL with a 4 or 5 for your maths IA grade?

Well, I guess I'll start. My name is Graeme, and I was a May 2007 candidate. I started this site because people always talk about how hard the IB is, and well, I figured I would try to make life easier for all of you. Welcome to IB Survival, hope you find what you need.

I usually don't spend my time hating on celebs and I am not claiming that even I'm prettier than her or something, but that girl is everywhere and I tried so hard to accept her because everyone I know worships her and are shocked when I tell my opinion but I just can't. It's not the brows, her facial and body features are really creepy.

Instead of having multiple birthday threads (in the future, of course, when we get more members ), I think it would be better and neater for us to have one big birthday thread. This way, when a member's birthday comes up and you want to wish them Happy birthday, you can come here instead of creating a new thread. Though, of course, I may have an ulterior motive in creating this thread, considering my birthday is coming up. Spoiler - Click me! ...I don't want to turn 19 though, to be totally honest.[Close]

What are people wearing for exams (if it's any different from your usual clothing)? Obviously some people have to wear school uniforms, but are other people wearing only specific colours for exams and/or bringing in lukcy charms with them? I don't have any lucky charms, but today for exams I wore a green tank top, had a green bag and scarf (all the same matching shade because they're from H&M) and had H&M shoes with a stripe of green on it. Obviously a little bit overboard, but I'm gonna try the same thing tomorrow with other green clothes and see if it works. Basically, from what I can remember from an article I read about 3 years ago in some magazine (teen magaz…

I am posting this here because I feel that it will get more attention. I am basically writing this to get your views on what you would like to see here at IB Survival. Although I feel like the forum is great as it is, I feel like there are ways in which we could improve. The question is, if you were in control of this site, and you could do anything, what would you do? How would you structure the site? What would you add? Just curious to hear some opinions. I'm all ears.

I know it's the question we all dread second most in the world (the first being 'So, finished that Extended Essay yet?' ), but I thought I'd make a thread for us to compare and contrast our dreams for the future. Who knows, maybe somebody out there also wants to be a professional orthinologist, just like you! So, for my part: I, like all girls my age, have always dreamed of being Supreme Ruler of the Universe. I'm told the University of Ballarat has an excellent course in Omnipotent Lordship, but I have to get 40 or up to qualify... Oh, you wanted a serious answer! I want to study Production at VCA. I'm curious as to how people first heard of IBSurvival. It's pretty self-explanatory. How did you find about IBSurvival? Where was the first place that you find the link/heard the name of the site? I expect, for now, the majority of the choices would be TSR, but I hope that will change as the forum grows and we get more members. Oh, if you got the link from Facebook, please specify which Facebook group. If you chose through a friend and that friend is a member here, by all means, say who. Everyone vote, please, even the ones that I already know come from TSR!

Hey guys, Congratulations to all the May 2015 peeps who got the results they wanted! I was waiting for a post to be made about the grade boundaries this year, but since nothing has appeared, I figured I'd start one. I am not in contact with my school's coordinator so I do not have access to the grade boundaries for this year. Does anyone have them? Or if not, is anyone able to reach out to their coordinator for them? Thanks

Have a question you've always wanted to know the answer to, but never been able to find the answer because your question is so obscure or you just haven't been looking in the right place? IB-related, to do with sports, food or anything, no matter how random. Hopefully someone can answer it for you, and if even if no one can, we'll join you in contemplating the randomness of life's unanswered mysteries. First question: How do they get football pitches to be marked out in different coloured grass (dark green, light green, dark green, etc.)? Do they cut the grass in different directions? Do they comb the grass? Do they grow different grass species in different parts? Thi…

Let your anger out here and make that difference you so strongly yearn for. We all misspell some words, so it's good for us (bearing in mind our English marks) to finally learn to spell them correctly. And if anyone writes the words previously corrected wrong ever again under this topic, that someone is a dead man. Haha! Allow me to start: Definitely. No, not deffanetly nor deffinately, nor defanitely nor any of the million other variations out there - just simply definitely. It's so widely used everyone should learn to spell it correctly, don't you agree? ''Definitely'', you should answer. Your turn. Go ahead, viva la language revolucion!

I just stumbled upon a list of notable IB alumni while procrastinating --> http://www.enotes.co...laureate_people and guess who is included on the list? The Supreme Leader of North Korea himself! When Kim Jong Il died, I read that his son was educated in Europe, but no one bothered to mention he was on IB programme. I now feel overwhelmingly creeped out, but also amused in a very absurd way Just imagine how much in common we all have with Kim Jong Un - there is a chance that some of use learns Maths from the same books that he did! I can't help but wonder whether he now finds all that History Paper 2 useful - after all, it focuses on Stalin, Hitler and other dicato…

"When you start compromising yourself or your morals for the people around you, it's probably time to change the people around you." Do you think you should not change anything about your personality for the people around you? It sounded true to me, but then I thought..what's wrong with compromising yourself a little bit for the people around you? Perhaps your personality doesn't allow you to fit in any group in which case you have to compromise, especially if your personality has a lot of faults, which applies to morals too. This goes for relationships and jobs as well. People say very different things about compromising and they all sound more or less right, Here are …

I just screwed up my biology test today and it took me quite a while to get over it. Scary questions kept on popping into my mind, "What if I end up getting a 5 in this test and the score goes into my transcript which will be seen by the colleges I'm applying to?" I know what the rational solution to this problem is: We can't change the past; the only thing we can do is to learn from our mistakes and do better in the next test. However, it is still really difficult to deal with bad test results emotionally, despite the fact that we know it is stupid and pointless to worry about things we cannot change. Since most of us are probably bombarded by tests and assessments const…

Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Peter Pan, Lion King, Pocahontas, Aladdin, you name it. I can't be the only person that's way past the age of kid's movies and still watches them. I've just asked my friend if she can look in her 7 year old sister's video collection and see if she has Thumbelina. And I have exams next week, yet I still watched Aladdin and the Swan Princess this week Personal favourites: Lion King, The Swan Princess, Pocahontas, Aladdin, Hercules. I hate Pinocchio. And no sequels, ever. Such bad storylines. I can't stand the English version of the movies. The translation in Finnish is always much funnier, the singing better and the actor's voices somehow less…

I have noticed that it is really hard to maintain an healthy social life and IB grades high, most of the people undergoing the second year of IB that have impressive scores do not go out and the only company they have good are our dear books. I am suicidal. I am an IB student from Vietnam, and this is my second year in the program. My classmates and I will be taking the exams very soon in May of 2013. Ever since I joined the IB, I felt a certain state of dull nerves, one might say, that have continued for nearly a year and a half now. I joined the IB never fully realizing the academic and social pressures that it entails, and the amount of stress, pressure, and expectations was too much for me to handle. I broke down. I constantly have feelings of guilt, helplessness, and sadness, and thoughts of suicide have crossed my mind. I self-medicate myself through the Internet and computer games, the few personal hobb…

I suppose the question is do you like to do group work in assignments? Or do you prefer to work on your own? Why? The reason I'm suddenly bringing this up is that this semester (and I suspect for the rest of my time at university too since I cleverly picked 2 majors that both require a lot of group work) I have at least 1 group work assessment task for each of my 4 courses. The most exhausting of course is my marketing assessment since it's on going for 6 weeks and basically there's a part due every other week so we basically have to meet up every week. Trying to arrange schedule for 5 people with very different uni schedules, most of whom work outside uni, to meet every…

Personally I've been listening to a lot of The Verve lately. I can't wait to listen to their first album in over a decade. However, I think my favourite band has to be Incubus, hands down.

I'm from Denmark myself, and we have about 10 IB schools in the country. Most of the IB's syllabus is considered much more difficult than that of our national system, particularly when it comes to Mathematics and Group 4. Most IB schools here also offer the Pre-IB, as it's pretty much impossible to go straight from primary school to IB1. To illustrate the difference in levels of Mathematics, my coordinator tends to say that if you complete Mathematics Higher Level, and then decide to study Mathematics at university, you can pretty much kick back the first two semesters because you'll have learnt it all as part of your diploma, provided you've taken Statistics as an option…

So, I'm a junior right now and I got the letter to join NHS. In fact, everyone I know got the letter to join. I asked around and wondered, "Well, what does NHS do?" People replied, "Oh yeah, it's a great program. You have to get service hours signed...blah blah blah....looks good on college application." Well ok, I thought. I guess I'll join. But then I thought again. I'm already doing service hours for IB, aren't I? And the counselors have been really vague on whether or not CAS and NHS hours can overlap, so why do it? Does it really look that great on college application if everyone in my class is in it? If that's the case, then it's not very selective. The lowest grade…

Hello I've recently been convinced that the word limits that the IB puts in the IA's and the EE don't seem to be that important in the long run. For example, this year the psychology IA's are still being assessed via a hard copy of the students work (i.e. not electronically) and therefore my teacher said that its better to be above the word limit for the IA than having to cut down valuable information. This resulted in almost 80 percent of the class to be above the word limit, some even going as far as 200-400 words above the limit. What are yall's thoughts on the word limits, are they really necessary and do you know anyone who has lost marks due to being above the …
