Hi I'm in grade 9 pre-ib, Since I started the year my grades haven't been the best, especially in HL math. I pay attention, do the homework, and yet don't get a higher than a 90 average. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I want to higher my grades up to 95 like they were last year. Does anybody know anything that will help with that? Thx for reading.

Hi, I'm a 9th grade student in an IB school, and I've honestly been really nervous about the Eassesments that I will be taking next year in grade 10. A lot of the 11th graders have been advising us to start preparing from now because they didn't have nearly enough time and struggled a lot. I really do want to start preparing, but I have no idea how or where to start. Could anyone give me some advice or maybe some resources or a youtube channel, anything that works I guess. Thanks!

Hello! I'm just preparing for my IB math task (I'm currently in Grade 8, applying to Grade 9). I was just wondering if anyone remembers any questions from past years. Also, some links to exactly what I should study helps!! 😅 Also, I found this as a prior IB application math task, and was just wondering if this is what it looks like still.

Hi! II am from Calderstone in grade 8. I am trying to get into IB in Turner Fenton SS. How were your grades in grade 7 and grade 8. For those who have gotten in, was there something that you think made you gain an advantage? Also how can I prepare for the essay? For my grade 7 report card, my average was 88% and all E's. My PE mark was only 75% and I'm scared if that might affect my chance to get in. I'm worried about my grade 8 progress report card as I have REALLY strict teachers this year and I'm sure I wont get all E's or all progressing very wells (maybe even a progressing with difficulty from the worst history teacher EVER). I know these are a lot but I really want…

Hello, I'm taking IB starting next year. I'm planning to take English B, Math, Physics, and History HL with Chemistry and Indonesian A SL, but I'm really confused on what to choose because I have not decided my major in uni yet + I don't like chem at all. Do you think its an idiotic choice or should I go with it? Is it a too hard combination? If you have any experience with this combo, please do tell.

I got all Es in my grade 7 report card and my highest mark on my term 2 report card was 98% and my lowest was 75%. The average of all my term 2 subjects was 90%. Are these grades even good enough? Also what should I do to prepare?

I hope everyone is having an amazing summer! For new students who are eager to learn ahead, here are my flashcards from the school year: https://github.com/ClosedCaptions/HighschoolFlashcards The repository includes all my subjects from grade 9, including the required Pre-IB courses and my electives: music and computer science. I excluded my gym flashcards as it does not have a final exam. I plan to keep updating the repository as I progress through school. If anyone would like to change the formatting to the French flashcards, feel free to edit them and attach the new file under this post. For those who are unfamiliar with Anki, I highly recommend it for s…

Hello people of IBSurvival! I had a question about the Merivale HS waitlist as I am not finding the answer ANYWHERE! Basically, got my IB results on Friday, Feburary 24, 2023. The email said that I was put on the first quarter waiting list. I have an overall average of 91% The email went on and during the end, it said that "If needed, a second round of admissions would occur the week of March 6th." I still didn't get the email. The reason I am writing this is because I have many friends (11) who were on the 1st quarter waiting list and nobody got in. I am wondering if anyone who applied to Merivale HS got in from 1st quarter or if someone applied …

hi! I'm entering the IB next year and am very unsure whether to continue with my plan, as many people have told me it will be too hard. my school is making me take literature and history as HL, and the only math courses it has are Math AA HL and Math AI SL. I'm planning on taking AA HL. I will also do Spanish SL for year 1 and ESS SL for year 2. I also want to take Physics HL, however I'm on the fence about that as it's 4 HLs. I want to go into engineering and I really love and am good at math and physics, I have a 4.0 right now, although take that with a grain of salt because my school is very IB focused so there is not much challenging coursework for 9th and 10th grader…

HI, I'm applying to the ib program at St Robs and my exam is in a week. I looked at a few practice tests online and they all seem very different some extremally easy some not as much so I'm not sure what level of math and English will be on the exam. Does anyone know if it will just be the things we learned in the school curriculum for gr 7 and the start of gr 8 or will there be harder questions.

erm so basically we just got our e-assesment grades for MYP and i did relatively okay but i fckd up math. Like terribly fckd up. I got below a 3 and my average points are 25 and the minimum is 28, even thought it is out of 56. So does that mean I will not get the myp certificate? will i still be able enter D1? The worst of all, im taking math AA HL but i got a 5 in my end of year report for M5. Is not having an MYP certificate a bad thing? jesus, kinda terrified, anyone can answer to this??

Hey! I'm trying to apply to Colonel By SS or Merivale HS (Both in Ottawa, Canada) for grade 9 next year. My school division website (OCDSB) says something else and the other people that are in the program are saying something else. I do not know what to study. The people that are in the program are saying something about the "CAT" but when I search for samples, I get nothing so what topics are on there and how hard is it? The school division website from last year says (they haven't updated it for this year) says to do some writing task a questionnaire, and a mathematics task, but those are relatively easy and almost everyone could do it. the website: htt…

Hello! I want to get into pre-ib at St Robert but i think my grade 7 final report card was pretty bad. I got an 86 on my report card which im really worrying about since my parents say that i have to have something above 90 to get into pre-ib. I got an 83 on my french which i suck at but i got above 90 on my math which i hear is what St Robert focuses on. Idk if this percentage is good enough to get into St Robert. Im also wondering if St robert does an essay and also if you have to submit an application about what you learned in your past experiences or smething. Also, what type of questions does the entrance exam have and what do i have to prepare for. Pls give me any a…

Hi, for me the IB exams are coming right around the corner and I have been practicing for around 2 weeks with different CEMC Waterloo grade 9, grade 8 and grade 7 tests. I can do the tests but, i'm really worried that I may be missing something or might not be studying everything I should be. I normally don't study this hard for tests since i'm pretty well prepared already but, I have been spending lots of time studying for this test. Definitely shows how high my anxiety is! 😅 I know that for this year, due to Covid, while submitting your application you were required to also submit an English essay. So, now I just have my math part coming up. If there is anyo…

For senior year in the IB diploma, there are 5 HL courses I have to take: HL English HL Studies in Literature HL Business Leadership HL Physics HL Science I’m assuming this is allowed because I can’t graduate with the diploma without these courses. For SL I take, SL French SL Math There is no HL Math offered at my school. However, there is an HL Math online course. I need to take HL Math for the university programs I want to apply to. So, I would have to take 6 HL courses, one SL course, and a TOK course. Do you think this would be allowed?

Hello, I'll be needing to choose my IB subjects soonish and I am in need of some advice. I'm currently interested in International Law as I do not have to live in one specific place to pursue this career. I have no idea if I would like it, but that's the plan for now. What IB subjects do I need to take, and how do I find this info out? I've been looking at some universities and I can't find the required subjects. Also, what are your opinions on International Law? Universities either offer International Law or International Relations. Please let me know. - Gabi

I didn't even know this site existed until I started searching for answers, so I hope someone will be able to help me here. I took a grade 11 functions course in grade 10 (a 3U course) as part of pre-IB. Thing is, due to all the covid stuff our class has been compressed into 3 weeks, with like 2 days to absorb content and a test immediately after. I was definitely overwhelmed and some of my friends were too, and in result we got some not so pretty marks. I just want to know if this would actually affect my acceptance into Canadian Universities. I am taking a grade 12 advanced functions (4U course) course at grade 11, and I heard universities look at your prerequisites, so…

Hello everyone! I am thinking on joining an IB school next year in Portugal and I was wondering if I have to do this “IB10PY” which I assume is 10th Grade before I do the actual IB Diploma Program? I am doing 10th Grade in the national Portuguese system and would not like to repeat it. I also finished the PYP Program and got to Grade 9 of the MYP in an International school before I moved back to my native country of Portugal if that means anything in this situation. I am turning 16 this year and would not like to graduate a year later than all my peers. Can I simply start the IB Diploma Program next year with no hassles? Thank you.
