Hey all, Currently enrolled in the IB Program, I am still undecided on two subjects that I wish to pursue: engineering and medicine. Leaning more towards the medical field, I had chosen my courses mainly based on that decision; however, I am concerned about the amount of stress it might bring during my junior and senior year. My selected courses include: HL Math, HL English Lang. & Lit., HL Chem, HL Bio, SL Psych, and SL Mandarin Ab Initio My concerns include what subjects are required to enroll in a medical program in the United States or the United Kingdom (mainly for HL), and whether switching one of my HL sciences to SL Music would bring about any c…

Hi, I am currently an MYP student and the time to choose my subjects for next year is coming up so I just wanted some advice on what people thought of my choices and whether I'm biting off more than I can chew. For background knowledge about my subject choices, I'm aiming to get into a CS college. HL - Math, Physics, Computer Science SL - English, Spanish, ESS I know that chemistry is traditionally a subject for CS but I'm personally very bad with the subject and I've heard that HL and SL chem are quite difficult, and considering the fact that my HL's are already quite rigorous on their own, I wasn't sure if it was the best idea to add chem to the workload.…

I have just completed St. Robert's Pre-IB admissions test for 2017 and I want to know my chances of getting in. I know that the test is the only thing that they check nowadays, so it is of extra concern now. So far, I am aware that I have made one silly mistake in the math section, and there could very well be more that I don't know about. As for language, I don't think I did exceptionally well, though I don't think I failed either (some questions had me second-guessing myself). Approximately how many questions does one need to get right for acceptance, and do you think I stand a chance?

Hey future ib colleagues, I’m the next victim of IB! Its that time in my life where I actually have to think about what I want to be in life. I HAVE NO IDEA. Teachers are commanding (I’m over exaggerating a bit) subject choices for IB. I chose subjects that interested me other than actually dying and trying to figure out what career I want. Here it is: Higher level: Chemistry Arabic Psychology Standard level: Math English Physics can people who took these topics give me advice? Also what career can I get out of these choices??? Help!!!!

Helloooo.. First of all, got to say that I adore this site haha. So far it’s been quite insightful with my IB exam prep. I have applied to Dr G W William’s IB program, and for the exam portion, do any of you remember the time you were given for each subject? I just want to prepare myself so I’m not dealing with any surprises. Also, any status on the confirmation of the IB World Program at Williams, or is it not discussed with the students? - M

Hi So we received our mid-terms on Friday, my first report card I ever received in the MYP program. Everyone who entered the program knew that their grades were going to drop either subtly or significantly. I knew mine were going to drop too, and they did when compared to last year's final Grade 8 marks. I went from a 94% average (as of last year) to an 87% average (as of this year). The reason why I am not satisfied with this is because the only course I actually got a high 90% in was my selected arts course (music). My other 3 academic course marks were all in the mid-high 80's. Some Grade 10's told me that Grade 9 math is the worst, and that it g…

Hi everyone! Earlier I made a post asking about Bayview's admission process. However, I'm also applying for St Roberts and I'm really nervous. It's my first year in Canada, but my English is pretty good. I have full marks for every single subject in my grade seven report card and all my grade eights are above 95 besides my gym, which is a mid-eighty. I've done the ssat upper-level questions and they seem pretty easy. I know it's hard to say, but do you think I have a good chance of getting in? Please help me! I'm really really stressed over this!

Hello everyone, As a year 11 pre-dp student, our school requires a mini-extended essay (2000 words) in a subject of our choice. Any schools out there with the same requirement? And if so, is it allowed/advisable to have the same topic in EE the next year? I'm unsure whether to do two similar ones or a totally different subject for variety and challenge. Thanks in advance

So tomorrow is the deadline for like having written at least 3 entries in process journal on your personal project and I didn't even fill in my personal project proposal on ManageBac. I don't know what to write on ManageBac, what should I write in the "goal" section, "inquiry question", "criteria"? I guess my goal is to just post regularly on my blog, make it big, and MAINLY promote a healthy lifestyle and how anyone could have one. SO what shoul…

After plenty of research it was very clear that, in order to get accepted in medical schools, I should choose chemistry and biology for the IB (preferably both in HL). That was the plan, but then we were told that they can only offer chemistry in SL, and that we can only choose either biology or chemistry. I've contacted the IB coordinator a few times and he's currently looking into the possibility of allowing me to get both sciences (this is hard because of the classes schedule), but made no promises. So now I want to be prepared in case the answer is no and I'm forced to choose between either chemistry (only SL) or biology (SL or HL). Chemistry SL or Biology SL/HL …

Hey y'all My EE's in Chemistry (Yeh I finally settled on Chemistry for people who have been following my struggles hehe). So! In my EE I am determining whether or not catalase follows the Michaelis Menten kinetics. But then I continue to determine things like rate constant, order of reaction, concentration of enzyme in the yeast source, the catalytic and kinetic efficeincy, etc. I am not sure how to formulate a research question to include ALL of these things I am analysing. With the EE being due in 2 days time this is really stressing me out. I came up with a RQ: Does catalase follow M-M kinetics? But of course my teacher said that this RQ only includes the …

Hey guys! So I've just finished grade 9 and 10 pre-ib and will begin Year 1 of the actual IB soon. Personally, grade 9 was pretty easy but grade 10 was actually pretty tough since units from the IB were incorporate into our curriculum. I did alright during these years but could have tried much harder. So, is Grade 11 a lot harder than the previous two years? Did you struggle at first? Feel free to leave any other tips, thanks!

Although I am in teh second semester of Grade 9, i am very anxious about Grade 10. I got 90 in English (this mark was an outlier, i was far higher before) , 95 in maths, 96 in French, and 96 in business. In Grade 10, how do you think I can do, for all the people who have experiance? Just to shed some contextual light, I am pretty hard working, and could have gotten higher on these if not for one messup in both math and english.

So first of all, I am not very sure of what I want to become when I'm older but I'm very interested in criminology and psychology, studying how the mind works as well as biology. I am not great at math although with hard work I can get by. I'm fluent in Norwegian although I am not good at analysis etc. as I never expanded my vocabulary in it. I currently take Spanish 4 and have done well in the past but I've done worse this year as my teacher is horrendous, so I don't want to take it next year, in fear of failing. Hey guys, I'm about to start my IB's next year, but there's one last thing in my way. The IGCSE session coming up in a weeks time. For those of you who chose economics during your IGCSE's, how was the examiner's marking in the Economics long question paper, are they lenient or more towards the strict side? (i.e do they completely follow the mark scheme or they allow leeway if they think your point is valid). I would really like to know as no one from my school has much of an idea. However, my Economics teacher did say that they will consider giving marks for valid points though, and that you can achieve development points even if you did not mention the main point/t…
