Hey everyone, So... I'm planning on taking the IB entrance exam of St. Roberts CHS. The exam is in November, which is only a month away. I was wondering, does anyone know how it's going to go down this year? We all know COVID-19 is among us (play too much video-games) now, and there is a very high risk of getting it. From the videos I saw about the IB entrance exam, I can tell that there were a lot of people, probably even more, knowing my grade. I'm assuming that the entrance exam is going to be online, and I'm honestly really worried. I heard that they will be looking at our grade 7 report cards, I'm extremely nervous becuase of the fact that I got around 88.8 aver…

What happens if I get an F in chemistry, can I take replace the grade with a course I take over the summer or what other options are there. I moved to this new school and I didn't do so well in my first semester and got an F final grade is there anything I can do to change this?

Hello Everyone. My teachers are telling us that we cannot get our IA/EE/TOK marks. When I read a few other threads, I realized that (at least I inferred that) other people know their internal marks. That's why I wanted to ask this: Are we allowed to get our IA,EE, TOK marks before they go to IB? What all information are the teachers supposed to give us (like whether our papers are going to moderation or not, and so on) related to the internal exams (including TOK, EE)? How much feedback can we get from teachers (because they are also setting a limit on that)? It's really weird because our teachers are telling us that they can't even tell us if we did well o…

Hi, I’m intending to enroll in one or few of these courses in uni in the future: Architecture, Graphic Design, English Language and Literature, and Education (teaching). Currently, I intend to take: HL: English Lang-Lit, Arts, Maths SL: Econs, Chinese Ab initio, Physics I’m thinking of applying to the UK or Australia, but I’m not sure if this combination is placing me at a disadvantage. I’m even thinking of switching out Econs with History... The university requirements I searched are rather vague, making me think that recommended subjects are as essential as the ones stated so... I need to submit my Subject Combinatio…

Hello everyone, new user here! Recently I submitted the final draft for my Math IA. However I have a concern: I actually based my topic about modelling graphs off another IA I had found online and took inspiration from it in the beginning parts of my IA. For example, the premise was set the same way since both of us got our data from the same reliable website that only provided data starting from a specific year, which meant our domains and axis for our graphs were the same. I thought the other IA had explained the foundation methodology pretty well so I basically followed the flow of their explanation with my own words, but of course the content reads alike, since t…

So lately I've been contemplating dropping a lot. At my school, if you decide to drop the full diploma you can still do IB courses and you'd have to do the three core subjects anyways, but it won't be as stressful and demanding as the full diploma. I'm already in my last semester of the IB, where we're supposed to be done with almost every IA, EE, etc. The thing is, I haven't written a complete EE-- our deadline was last week and I only got told a month ago (while i was doing college apps) that I had to change my EE subject from World Studies to English. To add to that, we submitted our final Math IA's in December but my math teacher has requested me to write a completely…

Hello everyone, Two weeks ago I received my results from the IB and both my EE and TOK grades are only one point away from the next boundary. My predicted for both were A and I received C from both. I have asked both my EE supervisor and my TOK teacher whether I should get them remarked or not and they have both said that there would be a decent chance of me getting one more point. However I am still not sure whether it would be worth it or not. I am also considering getting a remark in chemistry since I am 2 points away from the next boundary (my predicted was 6 but I got 5). However, when I asked my chemistry teacher, he didn't give me full answer and avoided the q…

Hey! I was wondering when did different changes to syllabus happen, does anyone know? Specifically for Biology, Chemistry, Maths, Language B, Language A and Geography I know when the last change was, respectively, in 2016 (Bio, Chem), 2021 (Maths, Lang A), 2020 (Lang B) and 2019 (Geography), but when were some changes before that? Where could I find this information?

I’m a grade 10 student, currently thinking of taking HL English B, mai, biology and chemistry together with SL Chinese A and ESS in my future ib diploma. I’m quite insecure about the learning mode in high school, I don’t know how I should study if I would like to aim for a 43-44. As I’ve been told by my teachers and friends, ib is so much about philosophy, and students have to participate in an active role during the whole process of acquiring knowledge. I am worried about writing essays and reports. As you can see (oh, well), I’m not a very fluent English speaker, along with my introverted personality and sometimes lost mind, I’m afraid I’ll not be able t…

Hi, I currently live in Africa and I wanted to know if my ib subjects combination is good enough to enter top Universities around the world. I am currently taking HL math, physics and French and SL English, Chemistry and economy. However I am struggling with all this subjects. It is not that I have bad grades but I feel like it’s a lot of unnecessary work. I need y’all help. Do I really need to take these subjects to do engineering in College ? psa: I am a French speaker so my sentences may not make sense

Hey! That's probably a very weird thing to ask about, but what would you say is a good way to prepare for the May IB exams? I have never taken such exams from a few subjects - for the GCSE/IGCSE equivalent exams, I won olympiads in almost all subjects which gave me 100% in all of them, so I didn't 'prepare' specifically for the exams and I don't know how you should prepapare for such exams. Any help would be appreciated. For reference, my HLs are Biology, Chemistry, English B and SLs Polish Literature, Maths AA and Geography and my mocks are from 4-12 March. I was thinking that I should firstly revise all topics for the March mocks and maybe only do questions fro…

I just received my ib predicted grades and I got a 22 predicted ( i was aiming for a 38 lol). Yikes I know very bad and i know I could be a hopeless case. But I've always gotten high grades and good test scores but covid-19 ruined everything for me which led me to do a little bad by the end of grade 11 and beginning of grade 12. But I then worked really hard and did well by the end of semester 1 in year 12. But I have a big problem. I got predicted a 22 which is a fail and I don't know what to do because I really wanted to apply to university in the United Kingdom (anywhere I don't care). UK looks at the predicted grades in order to give an offer. I cannot drop ib because…

Hi:) I live in New Zealand for four years and I will begin the life of IB next year (2021) And so far my subject choices are: Chinese A, English B, Chemistry, AI (math), Art and Psychology However, many of my friends told me Chinese A is more difficult compares to English A, and they suggested me to change my subjects as they think it's easier to get 7 in Chinese B. English is my second language but...eh... I haven't choose any subject that relates to Chinese after I came to NZ. So, should I choose Chinese A or English A? P.S. My English result is over average and my Chinese was pretty good before I came to NZ Ma…

Hi all I’m in a private school taking IB (year 2022) taking: HL Economics HL Business HL English B SL Maths AA SL Greek A SL ESS Would you consider this course hard? So far I think I’m doing pretty good, well except Greek, it doesn’t interest me at all. I have had sleepless nights working with coffee and energy drinks but honestly I find it enjoyable knowing I’ll have better chances in the future. I’d also like to ask if anyone has some good content on Greek A (study guides etc.) because that’s my weakest spot and I’m looking to improve it.

Hello everyone! I would like to ask for your advice and to share your experience in the matter. Currently at the second year of IB, I have been faxing difficulties with the registration for the finals. I had to take 7 subjects to study (English B HL, Maths SL and Russian A SL as compulsory subjects, History HL, Psychology HL , Spanish an initio SL and Biology SL as required by the IB). However, I have learnt that I will have to choose one additional subject that will not appear on my Diploma. The only possible subjects for me to choose from are biology and Spanish ab initio, however, for my university application I have to study at least two foreign languages. Thus,…

Hello there, I am currently struggling a bit. In only a few weeks time I will have to hand in the formula, with my chosen subjects for the IB. But the thing is, that I am really indecisive. The subjects don’t really interest me as much, and I am fairly neutral. And I don’t have the slightest idea on what I would study in university or if I would even want to study abroad. But what I do know is, that I couldn’t see myself going for a scientific of medical profession ever in this life. I was thinking about choosing these following subjects: HL: German, English,Geography SL: Mathematics, Economics, chemistry/biology I wanted to go with geography hL, as i…

This is a topic for all who need to change their IB subjects. I am in my first year of the IB diploma and I am taking Biology SL and Business and Management HL while i had not known that to go into medicine i would have to take Biology as HL and Chemistry HL. The question is that is it allowed according to the IBO to change from one sbjects to another ( in my case from Business and Management HL to Chemistry HL) and also is it allowed to changed from an SL level subject to HL ( from Bio SL to Bio HL). THANKS

Hey, I´m currently a DP1 and I´m unsure about my SL and HL choices. I can´t decide whether I want to take physics HL or dance HL. I know that both subjects are really different, but my other subjects are English A HL, Math Analysis SL (I didn´t pass the placement test for the HL class), Self-thaught SL and Economics HL, so I have no other option than to take either dance or physics HL. I`ve no prior dance experience and am therefor scared to take at as an HL. I personally like dance, however I´m not that passionate about it and currently already struggle with my mixer. I liked physics a lot at my old school, but my new IB physics teacher just isn´t that good. In…

And what is the name of the school that will appear on the Diploma, my original school or the school where I did the retakes? Thanks guys.

So i'm picking my EE research question. I picked Psychology and I have a few rq's made but I'm not really sure what to pick. There are a few I made so I was hoping i could ask people which one seems to be best for an EE. (Also if you have any suggestions or advice on making an ee question/topic/title or how to improve them that would be great too!) - To what extent does fear affect the memory? - To what extent does social media affect a person's personality? - How does depression affect the type and frequency of a person's dreams? - To what extent can childhood trauma influence the development of OCD? - To what extent does a person's upbringing…

Hey everyone! I've created this topic to discuss about tutoring in IB. I am currently nearing the end of the IB programme (year 12). Through the course, I have come to realise that three of my best subject areas (ranked from most) include: 1. Economics HL 2. Math Analysis and Approaches HL (Since the M21 batch will be the first trying out this new change to syllabus, I might cater to your needs the best if you're a M22 or later candidate. I could also let you know how the final exams would be like once I take it next year if you'd like ) 3. Chemistry SL I am very passionate about Economics and Math in particular (Chemistry too !) a…

I'm so insanely nervous for the future. Because almost every law student in UCL or Oxbridge who did IB did English Lit HL. The thing is, in my school, only one person in the past 50 years has achieved a 7 in HL Lit. So I opted for Lang Lit HL, but I'm worried it'll weaken my application. I'm almost done with my first term in IB Y1. My scores are as follows. HL Lang Lit- 7 HL History- 7 (my teacher will 100% predict me a 6 though) HL Econ- 7 SL Math AA- 7 SL Bio- 7 SL Spanish B- 7 For ECs, I am on my school's MUN team, am an award-winning public speaker (silver and golds in our regional competitions), run an Economics club and our sc…

I need some help picking my math courses ASAP. My top program I want to get in requires any three maths (MDM4U/MCV4U/MHF4U) while my other programs mainly require calc & vectors (MCV4U). I really really need high 90s to get into these programs so I'm not sure which of the options would help me. My school only offers SL math in either one. I'm also doing QUADIMESTERS this year cause of COVID-19 so ahhhhhhhhh online math!! Option 1: Single Credit IB Math Data management (MDM4UW) WITH academic calc & vectors (MCV4UI) ^^ also have my favourite teacher in MDM so maybe a bonus?? Or Option 2: Double Credit IB Math calc (MCV4UW) and vectors (MHF4UW) …

Hi everyone, I'm currently a DP1 student, taking 4 HLs (Math AA, Physics, Economics, Psychology), and 2 SLs (French AB initio, English). I'm supposed to be dropping one HL to SL before or during this following November. As of now, I'm not sure what I want to do in the future, which explains my subject choices. Among my 4 HLs, I'm really enjoying Economics and Psychology, and Mathematics has always been my forte. However, having skimmed over Physics in the past two years, I'm having a really hard time coping with the pace and content taught. And so, I feel like the right decision to be made is to drop Physics. The question that baffles me is should I take Ph…

Hello! I'm a DP 1 student who's in a bit of a pickle with my school. I've been wanting to swap my Chemistry SL subject for Physics SL, which they have denied due to scheduling issues. When I got my guardians involved, they didn't bring up the scheduling issues and instead, opted to tell them that while they did offer Physics, they only offered it as HL with the plan of having the Engineering group of the students take it. They've also stated that they don't have approval from the IB to teach SL, but have the approval to teach HL only. I frankly find this to be very confusing. I guess my question is, is it really possible for a school to have the approval to…

Hi all, I have recently found a hidden gem. An Instagram account that makes daily posts on everything an IB student needs to know about the diploma program. They post everything from common mistakes students make, to useful tips and tricks to secure level 7s and even share IA and EE ideas. For example, today they posted about how an IB 45 student prepared for their 8 mark Biology questions in the final IB exam. I have learned a lot from their site, and it has really helped me a lot, so I thought I would share it here to help others!
