My subjects are Math hl Economics hl Physics hl English SL Spanish ab SL Chemistry SL I plan to go into the field of economics in the future. The thing is, while I'm good at physics, I don't necessarily like it much and I've heard that if you don't have a real passion for physics then hl would be much more difficult to score a good grade in. But I'm worried that psychology is kinda looked down on by top colleges and universities in the us since it isn't necessarily as challenging as a subject like physics is. Could someone give me some advice?

So I'm trying to come up with a EE research quesiton.. And I've formulated a few questions, and I'm currently doing research on each one of them.. The first one I came up with goes like this: How and why is creativity linked to mental illness? Or should I make it something like: To what extent is creativity linked to mental illness? Which one is better???

what is IB psychology about? I heard that you have to write a report, how many words is that? Also, is there a lot of biology in psychology because I'm not good in biology? Thanks for answering!

I'm currently an MYP student, and I'm doing my DP subject selections. I'm planning to take Psychology HL, which my current school provides. However, I might move to a new school next year. I've already gotten accepted, but I haven't confirmed my choice. It's a much better school than the one I currently go to, but they only provide Psych (HL or SL) as an online course/class. How hard is it, and will I still be able to achieve 7s? My MYP grade is a 33/35 right now, with a 7 in Humanities including Psych.

Hi All, I was just wondering if anyone knew the number of minimum studies required to be put in the introduction of the IA, and whether or not we are allowed to include a study that is opposing the results of the other 2 (if we need 3 for example)?? Or do they all need to be supportive of the IA? Thank you.

Hey guys! So paper 2 is tomorrow and I just realized how much I don't know. However, since paper 2 offers 3 different options per section I was wondering if I could skip a few of the harder things and just study for what I'm comfortable with and expect that to be on the exam? Hope exams are going well for all of you

Hello all, With the paper 2 coming two days later, I wanted to clarify if my method of studying for the paper 2 works. By looking at past paper 2 questions, three questions from different topics in an option are asked. Furthermore, no two questions are from the same topic. For example, in the option health, if the learning outcome "discuss physiological, psychological and social aspects of stress" is asked, the other outcome "Evaluate strategies for coping with stress" is not likely to be asked. (instead, the other questions will most likely be about obesity etc) Therefore, I would like to enquire if it's alright to simply study one section of the topic and memorize e…

I am currently struggling with my Research question fro my EE in psychology. I intent on doing it on dreams or something related to unconscious mind so I had come up with the topic - 'How does our unconscious mind channel our dream state' but my supervisor tells me to look at the 'function' of dreams, if I am so keen. She says that dream psychology is not a very 'knowable' field, and is hard to find valid research studies, so it would be better if I could come up with a different topic altogether. However I feel I can come up with a good essay as I am deeply interested in this topic. Please suggest any ideas on how I can approve upon the same.

Do any of you guys know what are the experiments / case studies in psychology that can be used in two or three of the cores of level of analysis? (Biological, Cognitive, Sociocultural) As I know that this could help us to memorize fewer studies / experiments. Thank you and good luck to all of you who are going to be taking the exams next week!

Hello everyone! As I'm sure everyone is aware exams are quickly approaching. In the rush to get ready I have decided to share a secret my teacher has us do that past students have loved!!! (I'm in SL so our units are Biological-B, Cognitive- C, Sociocultural-SC, and Abnormal-AB, if you see me write LOA I mean level of analysis, so CLOA would be cognitive level of analysis ect.) For each unit we are required to make a "review book". To do this we use a composition notebook for each unit and split them into sections for each learning objective (So for the BLOA we had 13, CLOA 12, ABLOA 12, and SCLOA has 15). For each objective we wrote 5 studies in. Each study is put i…

My school is a very small IB school and as such our program is still in its fledgling stages. We are doing the IB Psych IA and we are completely lost on the inferential statistics portion, mainly because none of us have taken statistics. We did either the Stroop Effect test of Elizabeth Loftus' test on framing. Which tests do we use and how do we use them? Thanks for any help we could get! (Super desperate over here)

I'm in my first year of Psychology and I don't feel like I'm learning enough of the topic for the papers next year. My teacher isn't the best teacher and that probably comes from our class of 5 people. Some of us have started to do our own things but I don't think it's enough. Does anybody have an advice or suggestions for me? I'm open to trying anything new to learn the information. Thank you.

Hello! I'm sending in my internal assessment this coming thursday (final draft), and realized just now that I may have done it wrong. I used a study by Zajonc et al (1968) where they investigated the matter of choosing between antonym pairs. They asked their participants to choose "the more favorable meaning, represented the more desirable object, event, state of affairs, characteristic, etc.". When I replicated this study, I had understood it as that the participants were supposed to choose between the pairs and encircle the word they preferred, generally. Not the more favorable or desirable. I am a HL student and I know we're allowed to change experiments to some extent…

I'm studying the With reference to relevant research studies, to what extent is one cognitive process reliable? answer and the example our teacher has given is 2,700 words. This seems insane! Everything in the answer is coherent, there's no repetition, there's theory on schemas and multi-store memory model, plus Bartlett (1932) and Loftus et al. (1974) studies (600-800 words on each). I'm not really sure on how to write the answers but I'm honestly terrified at the thought that I have to write that much in such a short time. Are the answers really supposed to be this long and detailed?

Quick question - I've started writing outlines for the paper 1, and I'm a bit confused about some of the questions. As the questions for the ERQ and SAQ are essentially the same, do you cut down for the SAQ question. For example, The ERQ is discuss two effects of the environment on physiological processes, for the SAQ would I cut it down to one effect? Thank you so much!

Hi guys, I have conducted my study and am compiling results, but I am really stuck on the inferential stats portion. Would I use a Mann Whitney - U test? If so, I don't really understand how to convert interval data to ordinal. Thanks in advance

Hello guys, I'm replicating Perham & Vizard's (2010) study on the effect of sound on memory. The method: PowerPoint slides would be prepared as per the materials list, with each alphabet taking up one slide. A blank slide is inserted between every slide. A total of eight powerpoint slides would make up a single condition in which afterwards, participants would have 20 seconds to recall as many letters as possible in the same order. Firstly, participants had 20 seconds to recall letters shown on the screen in the exact same order. However, a popular and “liked†song will be played in the background. This recall is repeated with 4 different sets of 8 alphabets b…

Hey everyone, I was wondering how much of the Psych HL syllabus should have been covered in the first year of study. Our teacher is quite inexperienced, and I'm worried that she left too much to teach on our second year. So far, we've learnt the biologcal, sociocultural, and developmental units of psychology. That's a total of 90 hours of teaching according to the IB syllabus (30 hours each), which leaves 150 hours of teaching for the second year, out of the total of 240 teaching hours in the Psych HL syllabus. So, how much of the syllabus are we meant to go through in year 1, and will we realistically be able to learn the rest of the syllabus by May?

Hello! I'm on my way with a psychology internal, and I'm not sure about the study I've chosen and neither is my teacher, and therefore I came here to get some help. The study I've found is by Zajonc et al. in 1968, where participants have to choose one word from each of the 154 antonym pairs (whole study can be found here http://www.communicationcache.com/uploads/1/0/8/8/10887248/attitudinal_effects_of_mere_exposure.pdf, where relevant pages are page 3-8). IA Psychology IA related studies for Glanzer & Cunitz

Hello everyone! I am working on my psychology IA, and I have replicated "Two Storage Mechanisms in Free Recall" by Glanzer & Cunitz. I have the results and everything else, but I am having a hard time finding related studies for it. My teacher suggested Google Scholar, but most of the studies I find there are either too old (I want studies that are done after 1950) or you need to pay to see the study. Is there any good place where I can find the related studies for this or does anyone know any good related study for my topic? Any advice or help would be appreciated! Thank you for your time!

Hi! So I'm taking Psychology HL and I'm in my first year. This december, I'll be given a mock paper 1 exam. To prepare for this, my teacher gave us a 8 mark question to write in class. Despite thinking I did quite well, my score wasn't really good. So as of now, I'm quite confused on how to write an essay correctly to get good marks. Is there anything specific I have to include or are there any tips to help me? Do I have to go indepth into the studies that I'm relating the question to? etc. THANKS!
