Excalibre
Hi, all! So, I'm currently finishing up my final draft for English Literature and Language Written Task 1, it's a speech supporting Edward Snowden's whistle-blowing. My current word count (total, including rationale of ~300 words) is ~1,500 words. The question is: Is that over the word count? If so, what is the word count? There isn't a word count mentioned in the grading criteria I've been given by my teacher, so I'm not sure if I should go ahead with it as-is or whether I should reduce the word count. Any help on the matter will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Reply
Baller97
Yep! It's over the word count.. try and reduce it. The word count is 1000 words without the rationale and 300 words for the rationale, so total of 1300 words. 1 Reply
Seif
Your rationale should be between 200-300 words. As for the written task itself, it should be between 800-1000 words. So, a total of 1000-1300 words. The word count of the rationale is not included in the written task's word count. So, don't try to sneak in a few words. As for losing marks, the Written Task is externally assessed and the IBO will deduct marks if you exceed the wordcount or if you are a few words short. You also have to include the word count for the written task and the rationale at the end. So, don't forget to do that.
