simransawhney
I'm doing a history EE on the Kashmir conflict and my research question currently is "Discuss how the 1947 Kashmir conflict became the core political dispute between India and Pakistan during the years of 1947 to 1956?" or possibly "How did the 1947 Kashmir conflict become the core political dispute between India and Pakistan during the years of 1947 to 1956?" Firstly, can you please review the question and let me know if it's an appropriate question? Secondly, I need to fill out the "Justification of Relevance" which asks to explain how my research question is relevant to my study...I'm not too sure about how to answer this, can someone help with this especially? Thank you guys!! Reply
Emmi
Your topic is fine. Just make sure to keep it analytical instead of narrative. A lot of people do this by phrasing it as a "to what extent" question; using your topic, this would be something to the effect of "To what extent did x cause the Kashmir conflict to be the main political dispute between India and Pakistan from 1947-1956?" However, you can phrase this anyway you want, including the way you have it now. People just do this to make it easier for themselves. As for a justification on why it's important, think about where it fits in history. Was it a precursor to some other war or legislation, or other major event? As long as you can find it being related to something else that happened afterwards that is relatively significant, you can use that as a justification for being worthy of study. 1 Reply
