  • Exams: May 2011
  • Country: Canada

Current mood: None chosen
Predicted Grades for May 2011:
English HL: 7
Economics HL: 6/7
Bio HL: 7
Math SL:5
May 2010 Exams:
Chem SL: 5
French SL B:7
Predicted TOK (topic 5)+ EE (politics)= 3
So probably 41/45... if I'm lucky!

Canada:
Queen's Bachelor of Commerce- accepted (conditional on 5 in math)
Queen's Bachelor of Arts and Science- accepted (no conditions) ***I was a Chancellor's nominee for Queen's- not awarded.
Western Bachelor of Arts- accepted (didn't bother reading conditions b/c I'm not going there)
University of King's College- accepted (I don't think there are conditions... not sure)

US:
Brown RD- pending
SAT: 2050 (so Brown's highly unlikely)- waitlisted (taking my name off and accepting Queen's :D)

Good luck to all!

Current mood: Energetic
My predicted grades are:
Overall:38 ish
German HL: 6
Biology HL: 6
History HL: 6
English SL: 6/7
Math SL: 6
French Ab: 7
TOK and EE: +1
I'm kinda worried that I've been predicted too high, as we're the first graduating class..

I applied to these UK unis:

Leeds University: History and Music: Conditional 34 points, 6 in history
Sheffield University: German and History: Conditional 33 points, 6 in german and history
Southhampton University: German and History: Conditional 34 points, 6 in german and history
UCL: German and History: Pending - waiting forever really want an offer!!!!
Kings College: German and History: Pending

I really want to go to UCL. I think the Kings College offer, if I get one, will be right on my predicted grade so it's a bit risky putting it as an option..

Current mood: Relaxed
Predicted grades:
Math HL: 5
Physics HL: 6
English B HL: 6
Polish A1 SL: 5
German B SL: 5
History SL: 5
TOK+EE: +3

And my offers are: (I've applied for Mechanical Engineering to all the unis below)
University of Brimingham - Conditional: 34pts with 6 in math and physics HL - firm
University of Edinburgh - unsuccessful
University of Aberdeen - Conditional: 30pts with 5 in math and physics HL - insurance
Edinburgh Napier University - Conditional: 30pts with 5 in math and physics HL - rejected
Robert Gordon University - Conditional: 28pts with 5 in math and physics HL - rejected

Now I know that I underestimated my potential a bit, but anyway I'm rather satisfied with these offers.
By the way I see I'm one of the weakest here XD

Bonus: 2/3

Total predicted: 30/1

Predicted grades
I don't know what my predicted grade is... it should be somewhere between 41 and 44

Other qualifications (standardized test scores etc.)
SAT: 2280
SAT II: Bio:780, Chem:800, Maths II: 800, Japanese: 750

UK

Other countries:
Australia:
Bachelor of Science at U of Melbourne (my safety in Australia)

US
Harvard- rejected
Yale- rejected
Princeton- rejected
Stanford- rejected
Dartmouth- rejected
Cornell- rejected
Johns Hopkins University- Wait-listed
Duke- wait-listed
Northwestern- wait-listed
Washington University at St Louis- wait-listed
University of Chicago- wait-listed
Boston University- accepted
University of Rochester- accepted
University of Pennsylvania- accepted
MIT- accepted

Comments
My university/college offers are very puzzling, to say the least. I got wait-listed at some colleges that I felt I had pretty good chances at (WashU, Northwestern) and accepted at colleges that I have never dreamt of getting into. (MIT and UPenn) MIT and UPenn are two of my top 4 choices (along with Harvard and Stanford), so perhaps my interest was obvious to the people who read my applications?

Anyway, I'll be heading off to MIT. I heard that the classes there are pretty difficult... hopefully I'll survive! =) I'm so excited and nervous at the same time!!

Current mood: Inspired
Actual Grades:

43 with 6, 6, 7, 7 at HL

Other qualifications:

SAT (superscore): 2050 and SAT II Biology E: 770, and French: 720.

American Universities:

Rejected: every single Ivy League. (Harvard had been my dream for 7+ years, the only thing that would have helped was an SAT score a bit higher haha).
Accepted: New York University's Stern School of Business (I'm really happy as it's a great uni/course).

Australian Universities:

Queensland University of Technology (QUT) Dean's Honours Program in Business (Degree + Honours in an accelerated, 3-year course + $20K scholarship), International Business at the University of Queensland (UQ), and International Business at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT).

I'm currently in contact with NYU to discuss financial aid/scholarships. $220K is a bit too much for me hahaha.

Edit: NYU has said they can't offer me any scholarships or financial aid due to being an international student. Hence a local university it is. I'm still keeping my dream of Harvard alive though....MBA here I come! hahaha :)

We're on the same boat Sinclair.

Actual Grades:

38, 7-7-5 HL

SAT I 2000 (superscore)
SAT II Phy-800 Math2-800

US Unis:
Rejected: The "little Ivies" including Williams College (my dream school) & Amherst Coll. and a few others.
Accepted: Oklahoma Christian Uni., small Uni that works with my country. It's offering only half-tuition scholarship, but still too expensive. Hopefully they will increase the offer.

Started to look for Universities in Europe...
