I am definitely overusing Facebook.
Instead of doing my math portfolio I am wasting my time for trying to get to know whether anybody from my friends has started already ughhh :<

In my oppinion, this simple social networking website we call "Facebook" is by far one of the greatest inventions in the 21st century.
The reasons are vast and clear.
A perfect and free way to communicate with family , friends and relatives all over the world. Whether it be personal messages, public wallposts, or even the new " Video " application embedded in the chats which is was i must say , a marvelous idea!
Moreover, the sharing of pictures , and the ability to instantly comment is magnificent!
However, the way it is utilised can be an obstacle, primarily by youngsters. Overuse is definetely damaging at all levels, whether it be a distraction to studies and so on..
Therefore, one must put limits in order to benifit the right way, what do you say?

Personally, I think Facebook has its uses. I can chat with my friends when we're separated by oceans pretty easily (but then again I can do that even better on Skype and such).

I agree, Facebook has its uses, but just as everything has uses, it has its downfalls. I will admittingly say that I am a Facebook stalker, and the social network takes over much of my life, and although I am ashamed of spending my time on such a useless activity, I enjoy it. I mean yes, it inter-fears with my lack of work ethic.. but overall if it weren't for Facebook, i would have found another useless social network, and just as FB it would consume all of my excess time. Lol addiction is inevitable DX

i know you stalk every one...you need to get a life...
all of this websites are just time wasters...if not Facebook then this site will takes up time...but at the same time the more you use computers the better you become at understanding them and understanding computers is very important to keep up with the changing world...
i need to learn how to manage my time...really!

The future is with technology and computers. Internet and social networking are taking over the youth and many older people but who said that that was a negative thing? Most of the negative thoughts on internet and social networking are from people that are stuck in their old ways. Of course there are downsides to it all, but there are too everything, chocolate is bad for your teeth and gives alot of calories but most everyone eats it right? Facebook is just like a Hershey's bar, it has it's negatives but if you know how to moderate your consumption of the product the negatives are marginalized.
The future is with techonology, look at progression with every invention in the world. With the wheel we discovered that we could move things that are too heavy to carry and that helped create living dens for cavemen. Electricity gave lights at home, instead of living when the sun rose and sleeping when it set, humans could have heating and lights, and now computers, at night time as well increasing producitivty in some cases. The Technological revolution that is taking over the world is not very different from the Industrial revolution, it's a cleaner revolution by far.
I think that Facebook and the internet is one of the best things of the time, in moderation. In about twenty years from now either the world will look back, (Taking we don't die in 2012 fingers crossed!) and either say: "Man, internet gave a revolution to a new way for human beings to live!" Or: "Man, internet ruined the entire world." It's a personal decision.

Facebook really helps because fb is one way to relive memories.I find so many pictures that I never even knew existed.An its also one way to keep in touch with everyone.Skype is much better but its impossible to keep track of everyone.

Of course it's a good tool but yea... When you become too much occupied by Facebook and can't focus on your study it's a hell. But again - it's about finding a balance. It's amazing that if you're writing for example a lab report and stuck in a certain moment you can chat to your classmates and ask for help. Much easier.

Facebook = Drama
Texting = less drama
Facebook + Texting = 'OMG I'M FAILING'
Facebook to get numbers = winning idea
Facebook to play games = stupid
AHiddenName + IBSurvival = 'refer to Facebook + Texting'

I find Facebook useful and, at the same time, not useful at all. It is useful because it helps me keep in touch with friends that I don't get the chance to see very often, eases to follow some club activities (related to school) and keeps me updated on upcoming events, can be used as a tool for conversation with classmates (Yes, there is Skype for that but there are times that not many of us go online all the time), and maybe others that I can't remember right now. As for 'not useful' it personally distracts me a lot when I'm doing some assignment. I don't know why I feel that way but I need to go in and check what has happened. Other than that, there's always the possibility of being stalked by another person, which is not a very nice thing to experience.
I tried to deactivate it a few times, but I could log in whenever I wanted. So, not a very good solution. Me and a friend of mine came up with a better solution though. I change his password, he changes my password and that way nobody knows his password, and therefore cannot log in. It has been 4 weeks now that I've been logged in Facebook. (party)

Well facebook is an amazing invention, and incredibly useful! Except when you just procrastinate and waste soooo much time on it...

The only reason why I got fb is because since everyone has it, it made it so much easier to contact and get in touch with people. I don't fb stalk people that much, because eventually I get bored of it. I don't really see how people can spend hours and hours on fb, because I just find it really boring, and sometimes I creep myself out when I'm stalking through everyone's photos. To control your urges, next time you are fb stalking instead of studying, think to yourself, "Ew holy crap, I'm such a creep!" It works for me...
To be honest, I'm really disturbed by how hard it was for me to figure out fb's privacy settings. Only recently I discovered that my profile didn't look to everyone like how I thought it did! It keeps on changing its settings, too, which makes it all the worse. But I still find it such a useful tool, especially because I run some clubs at my school, for communication. Not everyone checks their email, but everyone is always checking their Facebook. If I fb message someone, I know they will read the message at most in a day or two.
Almost anything can be a tool and a useful entity, but if you get distracted by it, it can cause you more harm. Like how IB Survival's useful, but I'm using it to procrastinate right now...... I better get back to work.

I like keeping in touch with friends
Friends of all ages; from the little kids who have crazy parents to let them have FB at such a young age.... to wise people I call my grandparents, who have moved away.
Every morning, this one man I know (who is like a grandpa to me) posts a new status. They are always these little quotes that make me smile
I also love the new "Birthday" setting. I don't have to waste time clicking each person's name

You will be amazed at how much free time you will have if you stop facebook.
I think it required self control to still have it and NOT use it. That's like having a pizzahut pizza, nutella bottle,
hot chocolate cake with ice cream in front of you and not eating it!
