I know its quality over quantity, but was there not a certain post count that once you reach, you become VIP? What is that post count now? Thank you.

150 posts. if you have contributed helpful advices (in posts) or files, the mods might consider VIP-ing you even before you have 150 posts.

I should also add that if those posts must largely be of good quality - i.e. actual useful thought-out posts rather than questions, spam posts or pointless comments on posts drudged up from months or years ago.

If they are not, even if you reach 150 posts you will not become VIP. The idea is to encourage people to make positive contributions to the site but not spam it, in essence!

You actually don't even need to reach 150 posts. I hadn't reached as much, but I contributed some Files and whatever posts I made were to help people and they upped me to VIP anyway. Try being helpful on the site and it will happen.
