Soooo, just wanted to know, Has anyone ever thought they lost their USB drive and freaked out.

I just wanted to know because a few weeks ago, I was in the library at school and the bell rang. I printed out the things I had to print out before I went to class. I ejected my USB and stuck it in my bookbag (appartently I forgot I did this.....) because when I went to the computer to pick up the things I had and went back to the computer to get my things, I checked my bookbag in the pocket I usually put my USB in and...IT WASNT THERE!!! I was about to like scream and I nearly freaked out! All my work is on that thing! I was about to be late to class so I started looking everywhere in the library. Then i decided to check ALL the pockets in my bookbag....................

Turns out, it was in a pocket that I never put it in, and apparently that's where I put it before I went to the printer....whoopsies :)

soo, anything similar to this ever happen to anyone???

Wow yeah that happens to me a lot, I'm constantly losing my flash drives and sometimes if I'm lucky enough the IT staff have it, but yeah I really burn through those Flash Drives, I'll have to be more careful when IB starts :P You should really save a copy in your email, one in your flash drive and another one in your computer, you never know when something will break and stuff, but you shouldn't solely depend on online storage.

This should probably be in chat or something, but anyways...

Yep, recently actually. About two weeks ago I had to give a presentation on a vitamin with a partner in chemistry class. The day before we had gone to the library and made the powerpoint and put it on my flashdrive, but we didn't finish it because we used up all of the time allowed on the computer before we could finish it. So I put in the last few things on it at home. The next day I went to class and I went to my backpack to get it out but I couldn't find it. I dumped out everything in the pocket where I keep little things like keys, my flashdrive, etc but it wasn't in there. We ended up just presenting off our handout, but I really wish we had our presentation because we found funny pictures and had cool backgrounds and all these slide transitions. I went home later that day and when I went to my computer I saw my flashdrive sticking out of the computer where I had plugged it in the night before.

Yeah, I lost a USB drive halfway through my GCSEs (UK secondary education qualifications). I put ALL my school work on there - coursework, assignments, etc. I freaked out when I couldn't find it and posted a notice on the school bulletin, but I never got my USB back. Luckily, I had a backup of the stuff on the USB. I still had to re-do a lot of work though. English literature coursework, Religious Studies coursework and music compositions... Ugh.

Never put important stuff on your USB, unless you have another copy of it elsewhere! Otherwise, just use Dropbox :P

One time I thought I lost my usb drive and I was totally freaked out! It had all my IB essays and IAs on it. I was very close to having a heart attack... Now I'm thinking about getting another usb drive so I can have duplicates of my work. Agh.. the stress.

Yeah, at the end of last year they were going to clear the school hard drives so I saved all my stuff to a usb. I then lost it and had to redo all the work on it including a Chemistry IA.

I once did lose my USB drive. I had all my extended essay work on there, and it wasnt backed up anywhere else... Learnt an important life lesson there... Luckily though, I had backed up all the websites that I was using in my research so it only took me a couple of hours to recreate my notes and probably make them better

I work from my home computer and usually mail myself work if I ever need it at school. RIsk of computer failure is much lower.
