You can get remarks, yep. Although I think there's a deadline for when you have to have applied for them by. Also you have to pay; if your grade goes up, you get a refund, but if not then they keep your cash. You should ask the administration at your school to contact the exam boards on your behalf 
It's worth also seeing how close you are to the grade boundary before trying. It's rare that the points change by more than a tiny bit as (i)GCSEs are pretty standard to mark.
