So this thought has been haunting me for some time now. What makes us glorify behaviour such as alcoholism, depression and decadence? There are countless famous people that have gained recognition for abuse or addiction.
In some ways I feel that most of us can see a certain beauty in feeling bad, but I just can't wrap my head around why?

Think of it as a train wreck. You just can't look away even though it's so horrible and cringe-worthy.
And also, destructive behaviour often stems from incredibly strong emotions that are difficult to let go of and become rather familiar leading to the question, "Why stop?"

That's primarily because people want to be with someone who can show them a good time, give them a thrill and also take pride in being in the person's company. But most people do know at the end of the day that the people that matter aren't these action packed nincompoops, that's just for a good time, most people move on to more docile, normal folk once they grown older and less needy for 'cool company' and more needy for company that matters.

I think that people feel attracted to destructive behavior because it goes against the rules that society imposes. If someone defies these rules that person is seen as a "hero" because he or she dared to do so.
