A while ago I submitted my extended essay outline to my IB coordinator with the subject, topic and working title.
We were told we could not change the subject because it was submitted to IB, but I was wondering if it was ok to change the topic? Does that get submitted to IB beforehand too? I would ask my coordinator, but I really want to get a chunk of it done this weekend, because it's due! To be honest, we were supposed to finish ages ago... I'm just really pushing our deadline. :/

I think you are the person who will know best, if you already put in a lot of effort in the original one, maybe try to put your energy and time to better use
by tweaking it, adding and removing stuff using the mark scheme. But, if you think you can pull a whole 4000 word essay over the weekend or so
(mind you, it takes a lot of effort, but it's not impossible) then go for it. I personally think, it depends on motivation ... how willing you are to do it. Uhm, our school sends it in march or so (or april) but we still cannot tweak it and we do not have the time ... If you really want it, just do it and then try convincing them ... but if they really sent it, then i think you can not change it... :S wish you all the best, good luck ;)

Let me clarify. I haven't done my essay yet (well, I'm at like 50 words ) , but I submitted my subject, topic, and working title a long time ago.
Then the EE subject got submitted to IB, and we had to sign a form confirming that all the info was correct.
But I was wondering if the topic gets submitted too, because I want to change it. The two topics are similar, I'm just looking at the issue from a different angle.

Thanks :)

I think you can change topics, but not subjects. I'm not entirely sure, but your school does send out your EE subject to the IBO for whatever reason. I'm not sure if they send out the topic titles. Best check with the co-ordinator.

yes you are free to change your topic and RQ anytime. only the subject was submitted because IBO needs to assign the right examiner for your subject. good luck!
