I'm a ib student who study ib in China. And i am now a year 11 student . Our teacher remind us to choose EE topic. and one of them told us that the math essay is the most difficult one to write but can actually get a high score. however the science subject like physics or chemistry essay is easier to write but  can hardly get a high score. Is that true ?

It is true that math and science-based EEs are usually harder. This is because it can take a long time to come up with a good question (especially in math) and with science the lab writeups are expected to be extremely detailed and go much farther than what you would do in class. Which is why some people don't do as well. You can still earn a good grade in these kinds of subjects, it's just harder.

Despite this, choosing a subject and a topic that you enjoy is more important than picking the easiest area to write your EE in.

Yeah, I'm in the middle of choosing my topic too :)
I've heard that group 3 gets the most EE's because people think that it's the easiest, but from what I've been told, it's not so much the subject area, it's the question you have. Bad question=Bad essay.
