Hey everyone,
I just received my IB component grades and I am not sure how remarks work. A friend told me that marks usually go up. He knows someone  whose overall score  went up 3 points just for remarking various papers. In my case, I am would be interest in remarking the English A2  papers for which I got a 5. For instance, in paper 1 I got:

15 12.495  4

and I need 16 to achieve the next grade boundary.

Can someone please explain me how remarks work?

Okay.. well I've never been in your situation (probably because I haven't taken the exam yet) but i'll try to give some advice.
If I'm not wrong your paper 1 marks are 15?
If you need a 16 to get a 6, you could try for a remark. You never know what might happen.
I've heard of a few people who managed to move up a grade boundary thanks to a remark.
However, you are definitely not guaranteed a 6.
Looking at that fact that you got a 15 which is really close to a 6 - i'd say it's very unlikely that you'd move DOWN a grade boundary, so the worst thing that could happen is that you remain at a 5?
If you're willing to pay for a remark and risk that money.. i'd say go for it.
Good luck :)
