Has anyone watched Zeitgeist? It makes a great movie to watch for TOK class. It challenges our beliefs and the knowledge that we possess.

What do you think about the movie?

There is a movie? I am not sure we are talking about the same thing but the only Zeitgeist I know is Google's videos which review years. For example, this one: http://www.youtube.c...&feature=relmfu

Is this the same?

'Zeitgeist: The Movie' is an actual movie. Basically, it is about a bunch of conspiracy theories. I think it's most famous for the origins of Christianity idea. However, some people seem to get caught up in the claims it makes without ever looking at the rebuttals. Which is quite silly.

While Zeitgeist is indeed based on real facts in some parts of the movie, it turns out to be a lot of conspiracy theories not based in science or conventional views on the matter. The whole concept is to get you into this "cult". Seems like it is dying out now, probably because the organization haven't been able to do anything in particular than sitting around waiting for something to happen.

What I didn't like about first part is the made-up facts. Lots of facts were inaccurate, false, so they're most likely made-up (e.g. birth dates of all those Gods). The main idea is right - Christianity is a biggest scam, there are so many evidence that 9/11 was an inside job, you cant call it conspiracy theory anymore and banks are printing money out of nothing. However, it is supported poorly. Basically it shows how do we stop thinking about the stuff around us and just accept them, and anyone who is ready to challenge common views is immediately called hipster, tree-hugger or a conspiracy theorist.
I liked Zeitgeist: The Addendum much more. I'd advise you to watch this for your TOK. Its an off-spring of Zeitgeist movement, but I personally like it more. Also, its only 30 minutes, so it'd be more suitable for a class.

This completely different. Zeitgeist means Spirit of the Time. According to Oxford Advanced Learners Dictionary, it means 'the general mood or quality of a particular period of history, as shown by the ideas, beliefs, etc. common at the time'. That's why Google uses the same name for its Year review.
