Can our conscience be transferred?

I've been thinking quite a bit about this lately, but I can't reach a conclusion.

If our body were to be cloned, how would our conscience respond? Say, if our brain was cloned, and our old brains were destroyed, would we feel as if we never woke again? Does this mean teleportation of humans isn't possible?

If we were to be transferred to a machine, would our old brains have to be incorporated in it to preserve our conscience?

To answer your post. I don't know, nor do think we can because I lean towards materialism than dualism. But I recommend that you read into the mind-body problem. Or more generally, the philosophy of mind since those sorts of questions are being tackled in that field of study.

By the way, do you mean conscience or consciousness? They're two different things.

i think that if you were cloned 100% your conscience still wouldn't be transferrable; you are you and the clone is another person with its own individual mind separate from you. think of identical twins: 100% same genetic information but 2 different people with separate minds

Read "Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" by Mark Twain. The whole novel is on how conscience is corrupted by the norms of the society. Simply put, yes. It can be transferred.
