which engineering course do you think is the hardest?

Well I actually want be a robotics engineer (hence the username) even though there are undergraduate courses in robotics emerging I feel that they are limited with regard to the interdisciplinary knowledge. In other words I dont want to know a little bit about electrical engineering, a little bit about mechanical, and a little bit about Computer science. I want to be fully qualified in one or two of them and then I'll specialise into robotics for my PhD. I wouldn't mind going into any of them but I want a course that will have me fully involved. I knew people would rate the hardest engineering courses as EE, CE, ME, or AE, but I thought it would be more interesting if I gave people the freedom to pick what they like. I hope this clarifies everything..

Alternatively you could start off with a general engineering course and specialise later, that's what universities like Oxford offer. Reason being it will give you more time to decide, and a more informed decision can be made because you could ask your professors or whomever is qualified for advice. Also there's less of a chance of you immediately regretting your course as you could possibly see/ inquire how it is in the specialised fields before choosing which specific one.

But if you really want to specialise early I suggest you do Mechanical Engineering, Electrical engineering or Computer Science/ Engineering. Robotics overlaps a little in these fields. Mechanical engineering is the broadest of the three and covers most of what the others cover so you may be better off with that.

With EE, I've read around that there is a high demand for qualified Electrical Engineers and there's global career prospects because unlike certain engineering disciplines which are constrained to certain countries eg CE, EE is pretty much international.

Actually, I have applied to all those courses although at different schools. I like all the fields equally and already have a little bit of knowledge in all of them. The question still remains though..which one is most likely to give me a run for my money?

I'm going to say Mechanical Engineering because I'm biased and unashamed about it. Also M.E. dabbles in a lot of the other engineering disciplines and the lack of nichness-ness forces one to be more well-rounded and step out of their comfort zone?

If you're into torture really keen, you could take a look at aspects of the courses. Like lectures, assignments, basically fun stuff and decide which one you feel interests you the most, or looks harder.
