the Teddy Piano
Hey guys,I was just wondering what's the difference between the word zahlen and bezahlen, I understand that they both mean ' pay for sth. ' in English, but what's the exact difference on the grammatical side? And can you possibly explain them by giving me examples? Thanks in advance. annikam96
Zahlen and bezahlen are really simliar to each other and often interchangeable. For example you can say: "Ich bezahle das Auto." or "Ich kann die Rechnung nicht zahlen.". As far as I know you use bezahlen if you pay for a object and zahlen if you pay for a bill for example. The differnce is really small and hard to explain, even native German speaker like me do not know the real grammatical difference, it often depence on the context.
