As far as our school is aware, the IBO scrapped the idea of hours this year and now it's just expected that you participate in each area for a prolonged period of time (without a prescribed number or hours).

But on the IBO webstie it says:

"Students are expected to be involved in CAS activities for the equivalent of at least three hours each week during the two years of the programme."

So im not sure how it's 'supposed' to work...

Looking at all these posts, I'm starting to think that my school is a bit bizarre.

For CAS, we have no hours. Literally. We don't/can't log hours. Apparently this was something to do with students finishing all their CAS hours in the first year, and then not doing anything in their second year. This was "defeating the purpose" of CAS. So now they're making our cohort do 2 activities out of the three letters of CAS per semester (and it has to be "one" activity, with interconnection under one umbrella) and a group project per semester.

So over our 2 years we'll be doing 8 "letters" of CAS (8 activities) and 4 group projects. No hours. I have no idea how our school's going to properly enforce our hours. It could be interesting; some people will slack off, some people will work too hard. We haven't really started CAS yet, so I'm still hopeful.

Wow this year my college basically turned around and said that now the IB isn't so fussed about you doing 150 hours, as long as you reflect on it and progress in that area ( which is so much fun in the write-ups!!) :)

For my school we have 150 hours total, 50 for each section.  I don't know if we have a cap.... I hope not because I'm over in all of those catagories and my hours keep adding up, and I'm only half way through my junior year. =)

I don't think the IB has a cap, if you think about it in some ways the more you do the better!
I know most people at my college are planning to do at least 50 hours in each anyway (and likely more as we are carrying on the activities for the whole diploma)
