The destinations for the 2013-2014 conferences are up, and they will be held at McGill's University in Montreal, Canada; University of Bath in Bath, UK, and University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia.

Just wondering if anyone had gone to past conferences, and what were your experiences like? I really want to go to the conference in Bath, but I am unsure if this conference is even worth going? Thoughs?

:D

Hey, I have lots of friends that went to the 2013 Hong Kong conference- they said it was super awesome and definitely worth going to. I used to live in Brisbane, and there wasnt much to do so whilst the conference itself might be interesting, the social side of it might be a bit boring.

I'm the Project Officer on the UQ IBWSC and IB alumna c.2006 (positively ancient!). I think the conferences are a great initiative. I wish I had the chance to go to one when I was an IB student.

We're still in the process of organising a lot of the recreational activities and speakers. I'm happy with what the committees have developed so far but I want to ensure the best experience for students so I'm open to any suggestions or thoughts about what you want to get out of an IB conference.

Our theme is 'Empowering diversity' and we've organised panels on topics such as indigenous knowledge and experience, diversity in the media, refugee and asylum seeker representation, global poverty and inequality, and the psychology of difference. We want you to work on concrete projects and gain practical knowledge and techniques to take back to your communities and schools.

I've only recently jumped on board, so I'll be looking to update the program and other website information soon. Feel free to contact me via twitter or using the comments section of the website.

It's true that Brisbane is smaller than Sydney and Melbourne but I love it for the laid back attitude, weather, proximity to beach, and innovative community. UQ is also like a city in itself! Hope I can meet some of you here.

If you can afford it, I would absolutely reccomend attending an IB World Student Conference!

I went to the IBWSC in Hong Kong last year, it was an out of this world experience, it was simply phenomenal. The atmosphere is the best part but the quality of the speakers and the theme was awesome.

I ran a website during and shortly after the conference (I know the URL is long and weird) so take a look http://iresponsible-kiwi-at-hkuibwsc13.weebly.com/

Truly an unforgetable experience, I loved it!

Enjoyed reading your blog Morgan! I'm glad you came away from the event so inspired. Even 7+ years after completing IB I still feel like I have an uncanny connection with anyone who has done IB, we're all in it together you know? I think the peer network is perhaps the best part. :)

Hey, do you by any chance get to know about the winners of the scholarships for the IB WSC 2014? When are the winners going to get notify. Let me know if you can, this would be really useful. Thanks
