John Clear
Hi, so i'm a first year IB student and our class is approaching our IOP date next week. The work ive chosen to focus on is Life of Pi (The other choice was Persepolis). As for my topic, I was looking to explore the relationship between all 3 religions that Pi followed, and how it helped him in his journey, as many believe you can't follow 3 religions at once. My problem lies in the fact that a criterion of the presentation is to show knowledge and understanding of the work, and i feel as though my topic would take me off on a tangent too often while trying to explain the similarities between each religion. Also, i can't think of an effective way of presenting my IOP other than perhaps an interview with the book writer. Any help, suggestions, replacements, etc. would be appreciated! Thanks,John Reply
ib1123
While you can, of course, go for more unique presentation formats (like an interview), I think a straightforward powerpoint presentation would suffice for your topic area.Regarding content, one option is to look at how the presentation of spirituality, which is manifest through the 3 religions Pi follows, accentuates key ideas of the text. Essentially, why does Pi follow 3 religions? What is the literary function of this? Why does the author include this facet in the text? These questions are fundamentally asking the same thing and should be the focus of your presentation if you choose to proceed with this topic area. 1 Reply
