QueenSara
Hello! I have had this "problem" with my mac messenger for a while, and as I cannot seem to find any online help on this matter (and none of my friends are Mac users), the best solution I could come up with was to ask you guys. The problem is that when I log in to messenger, I am logged in directly, i.e. I don't write my password or anything, and the problem with this is that I am always logged in as 'online', and I'd prefer to log in as offline, therefore I need to find the button where you can choose your login status. Where do I find this damn button, guys?! I put my trust in you. Reply
deissi
Doesn't exist in Mac. You just need to be quick in going offline . Mac Messenger pretty much sucks, thanks Microsoft! Reply
QueenSara
Oh no, crap! ;/ But I guess I'll survive, that function hasn't existed for too long on Microsoft Messenger either, it's just so comfy. Thanks for the answer anyways! Reply
deissi
Wait, I just realised I'm stupid . Of course you can sign in as offline, I mixed you up with speaking in offline-mode, which is also now possible in the new mac messenger. So, if you want to sign in as offline, do the following: When you open Messenger, click on "Sign in using a different account or change your online status". When the new box opens, you'll see a dropdown menu for "Status" and you can choose Appear offline. If you don't see this, I recommend you check if you have the latest version of Mac Messenger. (v7.0.1 I believe) Reply

However, I believe that I don't have the latest version (v. 6. something), Messenger was one of the programmes I received with the office package for mac, so I guess that if I try to update Messenger to get the latest version, I'll be OK. Thanks a bunch, deissi! Reply
Abu
Why don't you guys try Adium X : http://www.adiumx.com/ Or if you want to use the camera in MSN chats then use: http://www.mercury.im/ They're much better than MSN Messenger for Mac. deissi
Actually Adium is only good if you want to combine it with other IM clients. I tried it for a while, but I don't like the way your contact list sets (too un-MSNy, even though it can be edited) or the way conversations look... I'm usually in a group conversation, and they don't really work with Adium... Mercury looks interesting, I'll give it a shot! What I hate about Mac Messenger, though, is that I can't encrypt the chat logs. Aboo, you wouldn't happen to know a program for that? Reply
Abu
Lol, don't you have high demands? I don't think there's program yet that have ALL of those things Be forewarned tho, Mercury is a bit slow. Yeah, Adium Group chats are pretty mediocre (read: nonexistent) Reply
