Charliepants
I don't live in the UK, but there are taboos like swearing, open discrimination and talking about sex or death.Have you discussed euphemism and how it tries to cover up these taboos? Like for instance when people say "He passed away" instead of "He died", etc.You could have a presentation discussing why there are certain things we try to cover up using softer language, instead of being entirely out in the open about things.I don't know if this helped, but good luck anyway! Award Winning Boss
There aren't taboos about weather in the UK... it's the most talked about thing in the wonderful collection of countries. Reply
Arrowhead
I find myself discussing the weather far too often when I'm in Britain.Taboo topics would probably be talking about race if you're white. As an Asian, I've noticed that particularly white people become très uncomfortable when talking about race and racism in general.Other than that, I can't think of anything else. 1 Reply

laurentjane
I'm English and there's not really any taboos tbh, obviously with strangers you probably don't wanna talk about masturbation, some sex etc Reply
