The_Struggle
My group and I are having some serious problems coming up with a real life situation. We were thinking about something along the lines of emotion vs reason and/or ethics. Any suggestions? Reply
Emmi
Anything can be used for a real-life situation for TOK. Things like court cases, political situations, historical events, even things in your daily life can count and are good places to start looking. From there you can identify how you can answer the question using emotion, reason, and ethics.Remember that TOK is NOT "Is _____ ethical?" TOK is about how we know what we know, what knowledge is, and how we get knowledge. If your knowledge issue is not dealing with at least one of those three areas then you will not score well. skandalism
Ethics is normally not such a good thing to talk about in ToK. Atleast our teachers tried to keep us away from it as much as possible as you might slip away from the actual ToK. What I did for my presentation was to start with the real life issue and derive the KI from there, made it a lot easier than doing the other way around. Otherwise maybe you should rethink your KI, real-life issue is supposed to be rather easy to find and connect to. Reply
