Hey I have my IPP performance due in a week. I'm SL however I decided to create my own script and have actors perform it out. The only question for me is "How do I go on and write about that for 2000 words?" I know that it's about the Process of the how the script was created. I know I can talk about how and what motivated me to create these ideas however I cannot see myself going on for 2000 words on it. Please help me!!!!

I'm pre-ib, but I am awesome at writing papers that teachers and counsilors love! So I can give some tips but its not from IB experience. It is about the process, but the process wont give you 2000 words, I understand that. The easiest way to make it longer is EXTENSIVELY talk about process and then apply it to larger life things.Show how that process is reflected in the script, how that process changes things personally or perspective, throw in some larger themes or else you wont be able to talk about it long enough. Papers always are really difficult at first but once you get ideas flowing on paper just let them flow even if they don't make sense. THEN GO BACK, and sort out how it fits. And even things that don't fit you can MAKE fit. Theatre is fun but it's a large committment which is why I chose IB Art instead.

If you can, find some sources online or in a library about play writing or writing in general, and you can talk about how you incorporated those into your writing. Or get others, people who know about theatre, to review and give you feedback and explain how this benefited your writing.

For the portfolio you need to include your research before you start writing.

  • What do you know about writing?
  • What style are you going to base your writing on?
  • What have you written before?
  • Who can you ask for advice?

Then you want to set yourself some goals for the task. List these.

After that you set up writing and record any problems you had on the way. Answer these questions:

  • What did you find easy?
  • What was hard?
  • What did you change and why?
  • What did you add and why?
  • What feedback did you get from others that helped?

Once you have written the play you will then have new goals in terms of performance. These will relate to how you want your characters, location etc portrayed, plus what is your message to the audience? Did you achieve these?
Your final reflection can include images of the performance to illustrate if this what you meant as a writer or not.

Does this help?

My students have just finished their IPPs and had too much to write about, if anything. I think you will find the same!
