laura.alfonsi
i would like to take economics as a subject next year as i am starting IB. my only problem is that i quite frankly suck at maths hahahha. i am expecting maximum a B for my gcse results at the end of this year. my question is, HOW good do you have to be in maths to take economics HL? some people tell me its only applied mathematics so i'll be fine, others say that it is very difficult, so i wanted to ask your opinion!thanks(: Reply

FoxGull
No problem at all, I take both Economics HL and Mathematics HL, only to find that maths in Economics HL is so easy that even students without IB Maths courses can do just fine. All you need is basic calculations. What's important in Economics HL is the ability to understand and generalize abstract theories as well as to demonstrate them with graphs and examples. 2 Reply
laura.alfonsi
thank you so much! i think ill take mathematical studies too, because apparenlty to do maths SL you need at least an A, is that true? Reply
