Falisha
I'm an incoming junior and I'm having second thoughts about the classes I've chosen…Please help! I'm taking HL Bio, HL History (APUSH), HL English, SL Spanish, SL Math, and SL Art. My main dilemma is whether or not I should switch from IB Art SL to IB Psych SL. I've hear that the workload at my school is a lot more with Psych but I also have a huge interest in psychology. I chose art because I thought it might be fun and rather relaxing compared to the rest of my classes. I'm not an amazing artist but I don't think I'm horrible. Does anyone have any opinions/thoughts about what I should do? Thanks so much! Reply
Lynxarin
If you're very interested in Psych I think you should switch. I assume arts is as hard as the other IB subjects, but I'm not sure. Reply
Luleline
Do not take visual arts if you are not 100% up for it. At my school arts is considered the most time consuming subject. Reply
batool
I'm having the same dilemma that you're in! I'm also taking HL Biology, HL History, HL English Lit, Arabic Ab Initio, SL Math, and SL Theatre Arts. I'm still unsure of whether or not I should switch Theatre Arts to Chemistry so my Biology class doesn't stick out like a sore thumb; but, it's so hard to switch a class that I have a passion for for one that would be more logical. For that reason, I suggest staying in IB Art if you truly do have a passion for it and will spend the many hours required to finish up the workload (possibly even more hours than psych might ask for). Then again, everything comes back to what you're planning to do after you're done with the IBDP. Hope I've helped! Reply
Emmi
Visual arts was fun, but it was a lot of work. Like, a lot of work. If you're interested in it I'd definitely recommend it, but if you're looking for the smallest workload then psychology is probably a little less time-consuming. Knight
Take Psych. IB Art is only for those who are epic in drawing and painting. Psych is a less time consuming and more interesting option imo! Reply
trisprior
IB psych definitely needs a lot of work, but if you are interested in it, it will be worth it. I suggest thinking about future options: if you want to be an artist, stick with art but if you don't then do psychology and keep art as a hobby 1 Reply
