Music HL in electric bass guitar?

Hi everyone.

I've found out this forum through a friend's recommendation and decided to share an issue I've been having to see if I can get any help from here.

I have just started the IB today, having done 3 years of MYP prior. I'm looking forward for two years of hard work and hopefully less procrastination than in the years before - but that's not the point.

One of my subjects is HL Music, which was the easiest subject for me to choose, since even though I have an interest in several subjects I couldn't do such as Geography and Psychology, Music has always been a deep and passionate interest of mine.

The issue is - I'm doing the course with my primary instrument, which is electric bass guitar. My teacher has never had a student playing bass guitar, and we are both clueless about what pieces of music I can pick for my performances. Bass guitar is an odd instrument because it is not usually played solo, and as the IB requires (or does it?) solo performances to be recorded. It's also hard to look for sheet music since bass is a very modern instrument and it's much easier to find tabs than it is finding actual sheet music.

Anyways - has anyone here actually done (or is doing) HL Music on electric bass? If so, what kind of songs have you played? Even if no one here has, can anyone guide me somewhere where I could find bass sheet and solo music to play for my performances?

All help is much appreciated!

Sorry, missed this question. Unfortunately there is not many pieces of music that has electric bass as a lead instrument. You are allowed to submit one group performance - that is, a group performance where you are playing the bass - but this will not suffice for 20 minutes. You will need to adapt existing pieces of music to the electric bass. Perhaps looking for some music with a cello or double bass, or some other lower pitched instrument, and trying to see if you can adapt it to electric bass would be a good approach.
