sophmliib
Hi, I have a question about a lab I'm designing. I was hoping to do something on testing the alcohol percentage in alcoholic drinks through oxidation and stuff. I think I'll be able to get all my equipment and substances but I'm just worried that the IB might prohibit students to work with alcoholic drinks. Does anyone know anything about this? Thanks in advance! Reply
flinquinnster
Well, if you were planning on consuming the alcoholic beverages or getting students to do so, then I think the IB wouldn't allow it if you/they were below your nation's drinking age. However, from what you've written about your chemistry experiment, it doesn't sound as though consumption is part of it. In that case, I think it would be fine. If you do happen to be underage, there might be potential issues about acquiring the drinks, but given that this is an IA and not EE the requirements probably aren't as strict anyway. You might want to double check with your teacher and IB co-ordinator - that's generally a good thing to do if you're unsure about IB policy - but I think you should be okay! 1 Reply
