My teachers just introduced to me to CAS , and I'm planning to take golf and body combat classes as part of my action, does that count? Plus, what things to do I need to complete in order to pass grade 11? Do I need to complete CAS, EE and TOK essay in grade 11 in order for me to go to grade 12? or I just need to focus on my grades (keep a minimum of 60% for my HLs and 70% for my SLs)?

Thank you in advance!:)

It all depends on your teachers and IB coordinator on when you need the EE done, but the IBO doesn't need your EE until seior year. I'm pretty sure the perscribed title is in your senior year, but it's due at the end of the year you start it for sure. CAS hours are supposed to be over 2 years, but your IB coordinator should be able to clarify if your school has any different policy on due dates and deadlines :).

However, I reccommend you start both your CAS and EE in junior year, because you have more papers in senior year, as well as the college application process. But it gets iffy on what constitutes CAS hours, clear it by your guidance counselor before you submit it.

Yay!  :yahoo: I just finished the Inner Core (CAS, TOK and EE)

Yes, Golf and body combat classes counts for Action.
As h0rr0rsh0w said CAS is completed across 2 years, but your IB coordinator would probably set goals to keep you on track.

Such as by the end of year 11 you should have completed 2 Activities and have started on your Major project etc. or something similar to that.

I think it depends on the school wether they let you go onto grade 12 if CAS, TOK or EE isn't completed, but I'm pretty sure they would let you go onto grade 12 either way.

For me CAS and TOK started in grade 11 in the beginning of the year, whereas EE started mid-way though grade 11 and was due mid-way through grade 12.

I think I've answered the question... ahaha if I haven't sorry, my brain is really dead right now.

Anyways... Good Luck!! :)

Hi!

So TOK, EE and CAS is done different in different schools, although the end result is the same for everyone. So don't get worried by everyone saying different things about how they did it.

So TOK has 2 parts to it, the presentation and the essay. The essay you won't be able to start until year 2. For example...my exams are in November this year, and I got the title early this year. The presentation can be done whenever though. But you will have TOK classes where yo will first learn the TOK way and then the assessment comes much later.

For EE,  you can technically start whenever, but you obviously need to know the subject matter, how it works etc before you start. Thats why you won't be told (or shouldn't be told) to start it in the first half of your first year. You may then be told to think about the subject you want to do it in and what you want to do. I suggest do a large part of it in the transition period between year 1 and year 2 (you will probably get some holidays).

CAS you should do majority of it in IB year 1, but it does need to be done over the 2 years. We were told that even if you had finished the required hours in year 1, you still needed to do hours in year 2 as that is a requirement by IB (or so my school said). Do start planning and doing your activities but don't be worried, you will go onto IB year 2 even if you haven't finished it.

If you are failing all or most of your subjects, or getting lower than 24 points overall (excluding bonus points), then your IB co-ordinator may say that IB is not for you and may ask you to move into the substitute course (if you have one there).

Good luck!
