frizik
So I have a problem with defining my research question for Biology EE. Been trying all sorts of ideas, but somehow every one of them seems to have a flaw. Now I've come to the point where I was thinking about seed germination. The idea was to plant pumpkin seeds and change the temperatures of the surroundings (put one next to the window, next to the radiator,in the wine fridge etc.) and measure the growth rate and then analyse which temperature is best suited for the pumpkin seeds. I'm concerned that either my method will be too influenced by outer factors(soil humidity, minerals etc.) or that this will be too simple of an essay. Any guidance or help is very much appreciated! Talalwarsi5897
I'm more concerned of this being too simple an essay. Remember though, you can choose a fairly basic topic, but you have to make sure that it is treated extremely well taking everything into consideration. I'm sure you know that you have to have definite temperature intervals and cannot just say "Next to the window" as an interval. As far as controlling variables goes, you have to make sure to keep everything as constant as possible while varying your dependent variable. In the real world, it is not likely, of course, to control everything, and you can talk about this in your evaluation. But make sure you have everything else covered, i.e. Same soil source used for each trial, etc. However, with that being said, I personally feel that you can't do much with germination. It fits more into a Lab. your EE needs be like a super glorified lab report. And if you can do that, then hell, good luck! Reply
