link
Hey guys, so I have to chose a topic for my IOP, and I have no idea if this one's alright - an analysis of the literary devices and techniques used in the Queen Mab speech in Romeo and Juliet. (Just google it if you haven't heard of it - its pretty famous and just a page) I see kids in my class picking topics like "The theme of love in the poems of Elizabeth Browning and Jump and other stories" so I'm slightly worried about that, since it seems far more general than mine. By the way, Merry Christmas! Reply
Howl
Hey guys, so I have to chose a topic for my IOP, and I have no idea if this one's alright - an analysis of the literary devices and techniques used in the Queen Mab speech in Romeo and Juliet. (Just google it if you haven't heard of it - its pretty famous and just a page) I see kids in my class picking topics like "The theme of love in the poems of Elizabeth Browning and Jump and other stories" so I'm slightly worried about that, since it seems far more general than mine. By the way, Merry Christmas! I mean, the IOP is a really general thing - it's not essential to have a super focused topic at all. It's a pretty chill presentation. But if you think you've got 10 minutes of material from Queen Mab, then I'd say go for it! The most important thing is to pick a topic that you are interested in. Also, for this in particular, you could totally bring the Romeo + Juliet (1996) movie in to it, if you've seen it, since Mercutio was so cool in that! ibprincess
ugh also remember you have just as much experience in the iop as every other student in you class?? who cares what other people do just take your topic and run with it because there is no set way to do it and you're gonna rock it Reply
Thrashmaster
If you are confident in your topic, then you should be fine. It is important to remember that the content of your IOP is actually only a third of the actual grade! You need to focus on your audience interest and language for the other two thirds. If you choose a decent topic you can explore for the full time in an interesting manner and with an academic register, you should be golden Reply
link
I've finally started putting something together, and my IOP seems quite quote-heavy - I substantiate pretty much everything, almost a quote every line. While this might be great for a textual analysis, is this something that would be alright in an IOP? Reply
ibprincess
quotes are important and needed but you mostly need to say the effects and implications from those quotes Reply
