Please help me with my English IOP!

Recommended Posts

Hi all! I have my IOP sometime in February (my teacher hasn't assigned specific dates to us yet) and my proposal is due this Tuesday. The books that I have to choose from are Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, Arcadia by Tom Stoppard, and Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese (all in my tags). I'm leaning more towards Frankenstein and Cutting for Stone, and one of my ideas was to analyze the women roles in Frankenstein (like how they are portrayed as passive and their main role is for the advancement of men in the novel) and maybe doing some slam poetry. Any suggestions or better topics would be much appreciated, thanks!

I think coming up with your own ideas is the way to go for the IOP, rather than asking us. You seem to have a creative idea already, and that's the most important thing. Choose a topic that interests you (like Women roles) and then make the audience interested (perhaps through slam poetry) and you're on your way to a good IOP.

Ok thank you! I just wanted feedback more than ideas, since I wasn't sure if slam poetry would be a good method of interaction for this particular topic or if I should try something else.

I personally didn't do slam poetry, or see anyone with it, but if you think it's a relevant method and that you can engage the audience, that's all that matters.
