does anyone use bioninja here?

Look, I think it is good, but I recommend you consult other guides such as the IB study Guide (book) or IBguides.com for more information as BioNinja can be quite brief at times. Also BioNinja is not entirely accurate in regards to following the marking-scheme and so you might find that it goes into depth for some syllabus points that don't need that depth of knowledge and vice-versa for syllabus points that need a depth of knowledge.

I was just wondering, does anyone use the website bioninja for the biology topics?

http://www.ib.bioninja.com.au

It is really good and seems to cover everything that is on the syllabus, I just wanted some feedback from other IB students/past students/ teachers?? Should I trust it?

Thanks heaps

Bioninja is very good, but as mr_awesome said, they don't have the "generic" IB markscheme answers (with which you're guaranteed to score well) and sometimes their explanations aren't as clear as they can be. They do however have great diagrams. ibguides.com does have these generic answers and is clearer, however it can oversimplify certain parts and has quite a few spelling / grammar mistakes and the occasional theoretical error (mistakes on the actual syllabus content, but they're usually minor) if i remember correctly.

Your best bet is looking at both these websites alongside the syllabus as most IB questions are just a rephrase of the syllabus points - so if you know them all, you're bound to do well. If the two websites don't agree on something, google it :)

Here's a document I wrote for the 2009 Biology SL syllabus (things may have changed since then) which has all the core material as well as option C: cells and E: neurobiology. Most information stems from the two websites mentioned, markschemes, and the stuff in italics is usually directly from the syllabus. (quality deteriorates towards the end as I was rushed, you'll notice that all diagrams will eventually come from bioninja and that the explanations are essentially copy pasted from there, with a few minor edits).

Hope this helps! and good luck :)

thanks for all the responses! and maroctam thank you SO much for the document it is great!! I will definitely use it as well.

I mostly used bioninja, and then did a lot of revision questions from the Biology Question Bank so I could learn some precise definitions and stuff like that. Do you think that covers everything? And sometimes IB text books, although not usually.

I will use the other websites and documents you provided anyway, so thanks again for your help :)

No problem at all, might as well share the document since it's already been written. And yeah i think you should be fine as it sounds like you're doing enough, although i really do think you should do as many past papers as possible as there are always questions that repeat themselves and they always have the same exact answer (i wish i could give you examples, but i forgot them all) - it's best to familiarise yourself with these. I mean, the questionbank has all the questions, but it won't tell you which ones have been repeated. I didn't use textbooks either because they are unnecessarily verbose. If you feel like you could use more notes, the OSC biology study guide is great honestly. it has really good notes and clear explanations (rarely incomplete) and they mostly stem directly from pastpapers and markschemes (some of my notes come from that too). The review questions in there are crap though. Are you in HL or SL?

I'll try getting the OSC biology guide, I'm pretty sure I can. And I'll do past papers for sure (it also prepares you for the analyzing data part, that can't really be studied). I'll share the document if you're okay with it, the people from my class will be infinitely grateful :) I am in HL

Yeah, feel free to share it, just remember that it's only SL content :) And since i took SL, i really don't know whether or not bioninja / the osc guide / ibguides handle the HL topics well. Also the option C: cells at SL is essentially the same thing as one of the HL topics. Good luck!
