meowchelle
Hi So I came up with a KQ based on the issue of people believing in superstitious chain mails: How can we justify irrational beliefs? However I'm a bit confused on the term "justify" - is it 1. "justify" whether irrational beliefs are good/bad?or 2. "justify" why is it possible for people to believe in irrational beliefs? or are both fine and I just have to pick whichever I want to talk about? Also, would you recommend using Faith as a WoK in such a KQ? since Faith in itself could be an irrational belief depending on how you look at it. Thanks! Guest Sonia
Hii! I really like ur question, I think it'd be better to look at it as 'justify with reason' rather than 'justify if they're good or bad' cause it's not so absolute. Faith would work very well and you could use reason and perception in the sense of using science to explain the supernatural for example, but perception as in sb having seen a ghost or sth and believing they exist. And then i guess you could also argue about the accuracy of sense perception, should we trust our perception completely even if reason goes against it? behaaa
I feel like its more of "give evidence to support the irrational beliefs" something to back them up 1 Reply

bethiedrama101
when I think of justify, I think of defending and supporting the specific thing, in this case, irrational beliefs. You then have to go into defining what is the difference between rational and irrational beliefs, which could prove complicated. Reply
