Help with really simple math question?

Just saying, I will be starting pre- IB in like 11/12 months (got accepted today), so please don't judge my incompetency :)

I need to find out the surface area of:

(a) a trapezoid with a height of 0.05m, and bases of 0.05m and 0.03m.

(b) a rectangle with sides 0.05m and 0.02m.

I have to add the areas together- however I keep getting an answer of 0.003 m2!

What am I doing wrong?

The entire working of the problem would be somewhat like this. See if you have done this way:

Area for trapezoid = 1/2 * (a+b) * h

Substituting we get, 1/2 * (0.03+0.05) * 0.05 which is equal to 0.0020 m^2

Are of rectangle = l*b

Substituting we get, 0.02*0.05 which is equal to 0.0010 m^2

Adding theses two values we get 0.003 m^2

The answer you got is correct!

Don't doubt this answer as there is a difference between millimeter and square millimeter , and a huge one that too.
