`HL Subject Choice Help

Hey guys,

 

Here are the subjects I plan to take:

 

English Lit. SL

Mandarin SL

Economics HL/SL

Physics HL/SL

Math HL/SL

Comp. Sci. HL

 

So my problem is in choosing what subjects I should take for HL. I'm not really sure what I plan on taking for uni but it's either going to be in computers/engineering or economics/finance. So among Econ, Physics, and Math, which two should I take as HL and which one should I just take as SL? Thanks!

The subjects you choose as HL should be related to what you're going to do at uni. For example, if somebody wants to do medicine - he/she will take Biology and Chemistry for HL. Engineering would be Physics and Maths HL.. etc.

Well, you can always take all 3 at HL and then see which one you like the most, and later drop one. When you don't take Econ HL it may be hard to get into an economics course, and when you don't take physics and maths you can forget about engineering (although some universities do accept maths SL). It is really hard because one subject makes a different here on what you can study in the future.

I would try doing all 4 HLs or drop Comp. Sci. to SL, as you can still study computer science with Maths HL (unless it's a requirement for the course you want to study). Whatever you do, good luck!
