poweroverwhelming Posted April 12, 2015 Report Share Posted April 12, 2015 Hi, I'm a grade 10 student going into grade 11 IB programme, and it's my first year. I sucked at French this year (got around an 87 or so), and I got by because the teacher was really nice and always helped me out in whatever way possible. I realize French is my weakest subject and I'll be taking two French subjects next year, so is there any way to prepare? Any way to begin getting really good at French so that I can ace the subject? I'll be studying it really in-depth from pretty much today till the end of August so that I get really good prep for it and I come in with a bang. Any advice/suggestions/etc? Thanks. THEliberator Posted April 13, 2015 Report Share Posted April 13, 2015 (edited) I am not taking french, but I have done french for about 5 years and I gave french foreign language exam in IGCSE. French syntax and pronunciation is difficult to crack. The best way to learn french is to stay in a francophone community ,i.e. french speaking community. As you (poweroverwhelming) are a resident of Canada it might be easy to find native speakers. If this is not possible listening to french radio and reading french newspapers and magazines would be the second best option.
