catalina
Hello!I'm working on my Internal Assessment for Psychology and I was wondering which type of standard deviation (sample or population) I'm supposed to calculate? Thanks! Edited May 22, 2015 by catalina Reply
intranet3
Hi, I didn't do the psychology class, but I did Maths HL. The type of standard deviation depends on the information you've got. If you use a whole population, then you use the "population" standard deviation. On the other hand, if you use only a small part of a population - what we call a sample - that you use to extrapolate on a whole population, then you use the "sample" standard deviation.
