I'm studying a lot, and I mean a lot, but to no avail. What can I do to increase my grades? This is really getting annoying.my subjects are:HL: ITGS, Chemistry, and Arabic SL: Math, English A Lit, and Physicsare there any methods I could use that could help me in studying or just methods where I can just higher grades? My finals are in 2 weeks, and I really want to do good on the finals so I can be able to go to the DP program next year. Thanks in advance. 1 Reply

Rosalina
It'd be helpful if the two of you could describe your study methods. Studying for a long period of time does not amount to much if you have a limited understanding. Last semester, I had the same problem and when I realized this was my problem, I went to ask teachers for help or looked up various resources either from the library or the internet. So far, my marks are pretty steady As for your finals, do mock exams in your books or look them up online. Do ALL of the review your teacher provides,no matter how easy it seems. If you are still having trouble with some concepts, get some feedback on your mistakes and then do extra problems from your text. \ This may seem like obvious advice but it really helps 1 Reply
Djsporting
Listen, putting effort in will not give you high marks right from the beginning, its the continous effort, in this on-going journey of two years that will. If you work constantly with excellence, and if excellence is something you want to achieve, and achieve every day then that's what you become. What i'm saying is, you have to continue putting an equal effort in to see results, and don't be put down by some inconsistent grades, we've all had them. You won't see anyone who has 40+ predicted who has not had a grade which did not reflect their level of excellence. I can assure you if you keep working, those grades will soon turn into 6's and 7's. You just need to keep at, and do your best. Reply
ellie
One thing that I noticed was that it takes time to see results. I started working hard halfway through IB1, and about 3 months later with mediocre grades all around, it seemed hopeless... and throughout next month, the 6s and 7s started flooding in. If you haven't been all in since day 1, maybe that's the problem. And one piece of advice I can give you is to get out of your comfort zone: stop revising what you already know, study what you don't understand. It's nice to do 5 practice questions about a concept you kinda get and ignore the thing you feel you'll never understand. Also, study buddies help. I love spending my free hours in the library with fellow IBers––it's a very motivational environment and very efficient at getting you to actually study. Good luck on your finals! 1 Reply
