Should I drop from SL to Studies?

Hi everyone!

I've been doing IB for a semester now, and I'm having some difficulty with maths SL.  I've done two exams so far, in which I scored a 72% and a 67%, and I feel like having just done another one today, I'm going to do very badly.  My notional grade (from my teacher) is 5, which isn't too bad but it's taking up so much of my time and stress that I'm not sure it's worth it.

I'm considering dropping to maths studies, since I'm not really interested in the subject at all and then I can put more time into other subjects.  I don't want to do any degree at university which will require it, since I love (and do well in) humanities like history and languages.

Two questions: 1) is it a good idea and 2) do universities tend to accept people who do studies, not SL? In particular, what do European universities think? Will I be penalised for not having done SL, or not be able to get into certain courses (even if they're not maths related)?

Thanks for any and all help :)
