happylemon
Hi I was writing my second Economics IA and was wondering if my way of referencing the definitions were correct. For my first IA, I used the exact definition from my textbook and just put the citation of the book in my reference section. Should I mention that these definitions are not from me? e.g. According to ___ subsidy refers to ___? or should these definitions be in a quotation mark? Thanks Reply
Pink97
My econ teacher said that referencing stuff like definitions, basic analysis isn't necessary as it's common economic knowledge (there is only one definition for economic terms.) But if you want to reference feel free to. Just in case you're not already aware: You really shouldn't be referencing anything as it's got to be your own critical evaluation of the article. You can use textbooks and stuff for definitions and basic analysis of the economics behind the article topic but that should be all.
