poweroverwhelming
Just curious what syllabus French B SL uses. I'm ordering a French B SL textbook (Oxford), and it says it follows the 2011 syllabus. Is this the one that's in use as of now? Thanks. poweroverwhelming
The syllabus that is applicable for first exams in May 2015 is effective as of now for Language B courses.Would it still be advisable to get a French B SL textbook that has it's syllabus applicable as of the 2011 syllabus? I struggle in French and need improvement while I have the 2 months off in summer vacation; do the syllabuses differ much? Thanks Reply
ultimateone
If you want help with the language, I'm sure the textbook will be of good aid as I'm sure the language didn't change You'd get help with the key words and grammar and terminology. However, the difference with Language syllabi tends to be the assessment, i.e. change in weighting, number of assignments, question styles, etc. The difference between the syllabi shouldn't be colossal, but I am not fully sure. But the thing with languages is that the language is universal and will remain the same. It's not like the change in the Biology syllabus for example, where there have been some content removed and some others added, as science is a constantly changing field. I say, get the textbook, but don't follow the information on the assignments and examinations in case its tailored to the older syllabus, as they have changed. But you can get the new examination info from your teacher. 1 Reply
