I've just got started with the actual process of trying to write my EE; this is following plenty of thought and discussion with teachers as to what (within psychology) my topic could be. I decided that I wanted to focus on language acquisition as I'm very interested in both linguistics and psychology and numerous ties can be made between the two.

So far the two questions that I have come up with are;

To what extent can a first language inhibit second-language acquisition?

-looking at the syntax/morphology of certain languages as opposed to others

-relevance of language acquisition theory// (innate vs. learned)

-critical period hypothesis (might this be what makes SLA more difficult?)

To what extent is forgetfulness an adaptive behaviour in SLA?

I'm leaning towards the first question...

I'm aware that a psychology EE should be based on studies - if anyone reading this has anything particularly interesting that they believe may be useful to me (be it a study or just general thoughts) please do let me know!

Cheers,

Alex

hey bro

i dont take psychology, so my opinion might not be useful, but this is what i think

the topics have good scope on what they could talk about but wouldnt it be better if you specified an age in your first question? to further narrow the question cause right now the scope seems a bit too wide because language acquisition will be different between a toddler and an adult

but yeah other than that its fine with the first question

Valid point! I'll have to think about whether I want to make the question age-specific or simply attempt to deal with the age-linked variation in a paragraph/section of the essay, thanks!  - I think there are several studies which seek to isolate the impact of age so that could be quite useful to include either way.
