watsonswaltz
I'm starting the IB tomorrow, but my school is giving a week to make changes. As of right now, my group 6 subject is theatre.I love theatre. I am really passionate about it and I want to take a master's degree in Theatre Directing, something I would love to do in the future. I love theatre, and it's the one thing in my life I'd keep doing even if I fail, because I love it so much. However, I need an undergraduate degree (Theatre directing is not available). So far I've been thinking of Human Sciences or Psychology and Linguistics, but a third option has come to mind: Population health. There is no specific IB requirement for that, but I think that Economics would definitely help.I really like theatre, but should I change it to Economics instead? Any other input about those two subjects in general will be highly appreciated. Thanks! Reply
ShootingStar16
Could you maybe take Econ as an extra IB class? You could ask your IB coordinator about that. I think that if you really like theatre, you should definitely keep it. Are there any undergrad programs that kind of link to theatre though? Maybe you could look into that. (btw I'm sorry if I didn't help much because I take neither Econ nor theatre) Reply
Fiona
Hi! I did not do either Econ or Theatre in IB but I have just made a little research on the Internet and here what I have got: 1) As far as I know there are undergrad courses for theatre. It could be Theatre and English, Theatre and Film, Theatre and Performance Studies and many more. Here is the link to the courses that they have at Bristol University: http://www.bristol.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/search/search_results?sort=score&dir=desc&sort=UndergraduateCourse-programname&dir=asc&query=theatre&filter%3AUndergraduateCourse-year=2016 (this is just an example). I do not know if you will be interested in such things but it is good to have various options... 2) For the course "Population Health" they do not specify which subjects you need (by the way, UCL has this course - I have just seen that it is one of your target unis). However, Econ might be useful and as ShootingStar16 said why not take it as an extra subject since you are so passionate about Theatre? Hope this helps! 1 Reply
ibprincess
I would recommend theatre. Uni courses (when they have no pre-req's) are designed so that someone with no background in the topic can manage the course. If you are passionate about theatre and want to pursue theatre in the future, i strongly suggest theatre bc its just a really interesting course (and also not too hard to do well in). that being said, if you are passionate about theatre, you're probably going to be involved in every community theatre group in your area, every school play and every theatre workshop in your area. If you know that you're going to be doing theatre outside of school and you're interested in economics then you could definitely try economics?
